I agree with the previous posts about getting her a .22 Magnum revolver, even though it opens up the whole mouse gun debate. .22 Magnum revolvers and ammunition are easy to obtain.
I've had good luck with a 3" Taurus in stainless steel and the new S&W 351PD. A 4" Taurus might make a fine house gun, and get more velocity out of the round.
These revolvers are easy to shoot accurately, have negligible recoil, and don't promote flinching. Have shot vermin with them, and they are far more powerful than a .22LR. They hold 7 or 8 rounds. A couple of CCI TNTs would be an effective behavior modification program.
