1911 for personal/home defense

I own a Kimber Ultra CDp II. The shorter barrel kimbers are supposedly the ones with all the problems and should be avoided like the plague. Mine has functioned flawlessly with the factory mag as well as Wilson officer's mags. The gun is a dream to shoot and wonderful self defense weapon. I'd love to own the middle child of this like, the Pro CDP II, eventually as well. Kimber makes an outstanding product. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another.

Hey Meat

I know you have your eye on a 1911 but it looks to me like you are more impressed with the .45 round.

Take a look at an H&K USP Compact .45

Yer wife can shoot it easy and it can be safely kept with a round in the chamber. Double action on the first round, single action after if that is your preference. There are nine combos of double/single/decocker/DAO etc... with the H&K's.

De cocker for safe de cocking, 8 plus one capacity and eats everything.

And it is arguably easier to carry than the 1911.

And it packs that famous .45 wallop.
