Enfield series rifles

I have worked on quite a few of the older SMLE rifles, but never really got into British rifles. Anybody know how far up the series parts will interchange on the earlier receivers?

    Better hunter

I was looking at another thread and it popped a thought into my head. What would be the one thing that influenced the WAY you hunt and made you a better hunter? For me, I think it was trapping.

    OK, Marlin lever guys....

Anybody know about when Marlin dropped the square thread from their rifle barrels?

    Browning Lever action rifle

I was just goofing around on Gunbroker and went through the BLR section. 600+ guns, most new, and about 5 bids. Most of the bids were on used guns. Do you think Browning will drop the lever gun soon? It may be an area thing, but I only remember one guy that owned one. I never worked on one. Most...

    Blanks

Fairly new to black powder. Anybody ever work up something to shoot "Blanks" in a muzzleloader? Stick a wad in front or what?

    What is it?

We threw hundreds of these away in the military.[/IMG]

    M1 Carbine

I was looking at some photos of the French in Vietnam and one showed a French soldier with an M1 carbine. It really looks like it had a grenade launcher attachment on it. I never heard of that. Possible?

    Gun Market

Take notice to the prices on the used guns in the last month or two? Levers and military stuff (Wood & steel) really took a jump. What is it? Tax return time? Maybe it is like the realty business. If you can't sell a house, raise the price. Too many amature "American pickers" trying to save a...

    Tilt-bolt rifles

I was reading a gun book about French auto-loaders and came across something interesting. Apparently there has been arguments over the years about the origin of the carrier actuated tilting bolt lock up and where it first appeared. The author claimed France in the 1920's time period. Although...

    Where is Clark?

    At what cost?

There is a 1895 Winchester on an online auction right now. It is in terrible shape. The stock is cracked and cut down. The forearm looks to made from pine. There is no bluing left and the receiver is scratched and nicked up. There is a screw going right through the lettering on the receiver to...

    12:00 AM

Just got in off the porch with the shotgun. It sounded like the first day of small game season 50 years ago. Is shooting at twelve on New Years Eve a PA hillbilly thing, or does it carry over to other states? Been that way since I am old enough to remember.

    Failed cartridges

Someone commented on the 6MM thread that it would be interesting to look at cartridges that just failed to make it and why. I also find this interesting. The Remington 7MM Express comes to mind. It should have given the .270 some real competition. I predict the Winchester .325 will die out too...

    Blondeu slugs

I may have the spelling wrong, but does anybody remember those French shotgun slugs developed for their military? Posters are always bringing up home defense shotguns. Those slugs would be awesome at short range.

    Finnish rifles

Where is the Guggmeister, I have a question. I was crusin' the net and went on a military surplus site in Canada. They REALLY had some choice rifles on there. Unfortunately, they will not ship to the US. Anyway, there was an Arisaka that was issued to the Finnish Civil Guard, or something like...

    Long range shooting

I see a lot of posts about long range shooting, hunting, and military surplus rifles. Clark was talking about hitting a kill zone between 400-500 yards. I really started to think about that. I shot at 500 yards with both the M-14 and M16, using dog targets (About 3/4 of a mans height) and never...

    Antiques?

What is the minimum manufacture date on rifles to be classified as a non-FFL items? Every once and a while a barreled action pops up on ebay. Just curious.

    Ammunition tax

Do you see state taxes used in the future to stop the flow of ammunition? It sure put a hurting on the smokers in some states. Instead of outlawing guns, they may try to out price them.

    Odd reloads

I recently acquired an odd caliber that I could not find load specs for. I was buying dies anyway, so I thought LEE, king of oddball dies. Sure enough, just like when I loaded up .303 Savage years ago, there were load specs included in the instructions. Just a thought if you get stuck on something.

    8 MM Lebel

Anybody have a hunting load (Deer) for the 8 MM Lebel? Really not much information out there.
