    AndiScan micro A2

Looks as if at least one new new doppler radar chrono will be out this year to compete against the LR. While at first glance it solves all of the issues I have with Labradar I am still hesitant about dropping $800 for something I really don't need. However being a tech junkie I can see me...

    GRT, OBT and load workups

A week or so back was a thread about Gordons reloading tool and it's accuracy. I did some research on using the tool and not surprisingly you get out of it what you put into it. I weighed my rifle, contacted the manufacturer of the barrel and got it's true twist, length, and gas port diameter. I...

How often do you use your chrono?

for me the only purpose of a chrono these days is to get my FPS for scope comeups after load development or to check after a large temperature swing Myself I only use my chronos at the end of my load development. During load resting the POI of the rounds tells me everything I need. I shoot...

    Question about GRT ?

Played with my 6.5 Grendel today using H322 and 123 Nosler CC's. Real life results at 26.6 gns gave me a muzzle velocity of 2433 FPS average. No ejector marks no pressure signs as far as primer protrusion. GRT has this over Pmax and over 2500 FPS. Backing off on GRT to 25.6 gns gives me FPS...

    Case heads bent on extraction?

I have noticed that I have problems with concentricity on ammo that has been fired in my AR's. I use a Hornady tool for checking which rotates the case on the head and the meplat. I do not have any problems with cases that are fired in bolt guns so I am guessing the heads are getting bent on...

    Ever overlook the obvious?

put together a new rifle, Shilen barrel on a Bighorn action, KRG stock, and a Triggertech 2 stage trigger. Tried 3 different powders and 2 bullet weights and 200 rounds later it would still not group. Swapped out the barrel for a 6BR barrel that shoots sub MOA out to 850. Got 3 inch groups at...

Someone shared a quick tip on concentricity

A friend of mine had been complaining that he was getting a lot of run out on his bullet seating a few weeks back. When I ran into him last week he told me he had found a cure for the issue. Turned out the spring that holds the shellholder in to the ram on his RC had been tilting the shell...

How many load data sources do you consult ?

When working up a load I always check as many sources as possible and am always amazed at the differences I find on various sites. I am going to be loading some 175 gn Barnes Match Burners with Accurate 2520 powder in the .308 Win. tis morning and testing them this afternoon in a bolt gun First...

First impression of Shotmarker Electronic Target

I have had a chance to use mine a few times and this is just a short report and my opinion. I will not go into setup, there are a lot of videos out there for that. I will just say I have found it easy to setup, calibrate, and use in real life. The batteries are long lasting and after the...

    6 ARC and concentricity issues

Anyone here do concentricity checks on their AR ammo? My 6ARC seems to be doing a number on the case necks. Bolt gun brass less than .001, 6 ARC .005. The cases are old Hornady 6.5 Grendel brass I formed into 6 ARC. I am using a Hornady FL die with expander removed then expanding to .240 with a...

    Is chamfering necessary ?

F Class John has posted a video using the new AMP press and one of his first tests involved chamfering. Oddly enough the best groups came from the non chamfered cases. Anyway that got me to thinking, always a dangerous thing that thinking. I asked myself what is the purpose of a inside neck...

what new powders are you experimenting with ?

the Ramshot Hunter thread got me to thinking. The shortages on a lot of our old standbys has us experimenting with other powders. As I start to use up my H4350, 8208, Varget and 4831 SC I plan on trying several other powders such as several of the Vihtavuori as well as Shooter World offerings...

    Concentricity, how I fixed mine

Concentricity and runout, does it matter and how I got mine down to .001 or less. There are varying opinions on how much it affects accuracy. I think most everyone will agree that a runout of 0.005” is too much for best accuracy, and a runout of 0.01″ is really completely unacceptable. I...

    TAC in .308 Win ?

thinking about building a new F/TR rifle. I want to use what I have onhand. Bullets choices are a lot of 168 Noslers and 175 SMK's, also about 100 or so 155.5 Bergers. For powder Varget, 8208 and TAC. The Varget I want to save for 6BR, plenty of TAC and 8208 however. Various LRP's both normal...
