Ruger Mk II hammer spring install

Having some trouble getting the darn spring and ball back in the MS housing. Any trick to this operation?

Disabling Ruger Mk III mag safety?

So I bring home my new 22/45 last night. I thought I'd broke it during cleaning until I realized it had a stupid, useless, cursed, asinine mag safety. Might not have bought the pistol if I'd realized it had a mag safety. I don't suppose it is as easy to neutralize as a 3rd Gen Smith? And...

    .22 Hornet?

My father-in-law just gave my son (12) a Kimber in .22 Hornet. Seems like a nice rifle, very pretty. I have heard of the .22 Hornet, but don't know much else. Target shooting and varmints? Ammo availability and cost? Other info and history?

    Hi Power detail strip

Are there any online resources that describe taking a Hi Power frame down to the pins? My HP's safety has frozen up (off), and I want to know how to find out what is broken.

    N-Frame tears up trigger finger

I used to dismiss this as a .44 hot load thing with my 629. But with my recently acquired 625, I also get injured. After say 30-40 rounds (double action), my trigger finger is always bleeding. I don't shoot revolvers enough to develop a callous though. The spot that gets opened up is the third...

How do you operate your P99 mag release?

I first attempted to use my thumb in the traditional manner but pretty much had to totally regrip to reach it. Then someone mentioned that it was designed for the shooter to use his or her trigger digit. This works much better for me with this pistol but I carry a different pistol that this...

    .45 SW99 now on S&W website

Was looking around my usual internet stops and saw that the SW99 in .45 is listed on the website. Dunno that I am all that interested but have seen numerous comments about it on this site so I thought I would relay. Sorry if this is old news.

    Finally bought a mouse.

I somehow ended up with store credit at the end of a rather convoluted purchase yesterday and decided to go ahead and get the P32. I have always despised the feel but it's growing on me already now that it is actually mine. Looking forward to Sunday when I can shoot both it and my other...

    Contemplating DA .45Colt?

For some reason an urge for a DA in .45 Colt has taken hold. Top considerations are 5.5" Redhawk or a 625 (preferably with a hammer mounted firing pin and not a mountain gun). I would be handloading it from light to heavy loads. I am open to other suggestions too.

    Powder inconsistancy: 550B

Seem to be having a bit of trouble getting consistant powder charges from my 550B with certain kinds of powder, mostly stick rifle. Not during a run but a difference between set up and cranking them out. The way I usually do things is to take one case neck size & prime, then on to station 2...

    Recoil spring compatiblity: 1911/S&W1006

I like running a 20# variable in my 10mm 1911. I think this helps with recoil and frame battering in both directions of slide movement. That I know of, a variable spring is not available for Smith autos. I am wondering if I can put a 1911 spring in my 5" Smiths. I am at work now so I can't...

    The cult of Bullseye?

What is it with these guys? Every week I see them practicing at the range I frequent. Every time I pull out a .22 they scurry over and try to get me to join the club. It was flattering at first but now it is getting to be a bit much. I have made it pretty clear that 1. my work schedule will not...

    Test batch sizes?

When developing a load for rifle or pistol, how many rounds do you load? I typically do 20 which gives me enough for accuracy and chonography tests. However, component availability does make an impact on occasion.

Starting to be a little worried about '04

I remember the days during and after the Persian Gulf War when GHB had approval ratings in the 90s. He seemed like a lock for re-election. Then the economy took a slight downturn and we had 8 years of he-who-shall-not-be-named. Right now things seem to be swinging right and I am pretty pleased...

    Have 225, why do I want a 228?

As the title states, I have a 225 and it is my third favorite 9mm. I also have a 226 and it is actually pretty far down on the list as far as guns I like. But I do like the feel of the 228 and the gun shop has one for 550 or so. Dunno that I just have new pistol fever or there is some other...

Who has wood for 1076/1026? ;)

One of my 1026s is off getting a dark refinish. I think it would look much much better if I could slap some wood grips on her. I have seen a few 1076 auctions that have the Hogue rubber grips installed but contacting Hogue, they say they do not have grips specifically for the 1076/1026. I guess...

    Fully cock it or not?

I have always hunted muzzleloader season with my T/C inline. It has a relatively silent safety. This year howeaver you might say I am getting into the spirit of the thing and will be using a sidelock (flint) with no safety. It also has a double set trigger. I will be in a spot that is well...

    Deer hunting from a blind?

The only deer hunting I have seriously done is from a stand. I have a new place to go this year but a stand does not really seem doable. There are three huge pecan trees with tracks and scrapes everywhere. They are so huge in fact my climber will not work and I really don't have permission to...
