OK I have this Ruger 77 Compact in .308. Shooting off a bench with sandbags is not all that easy. Compared to my Ruger No.1 the rifle is hard to hold steady. I have no trouble with any of the other rifles I shoot. I use sandbags...............any suggestions on how to stabilize my shooting...

On the the "Light Magnum" series of ammo.......just what are they doing to achieve such performance? I remember reading sometime ago that the powder charge is higher. My guess was that they were using a slighly slower powder and somehow "staging" the powder charge!

I have a Ruger 77 compact in .308. With a 16.1/2 barrel I know I lose some velocity. I plan on using 150 gr. bullets. What powder would be good for this??? I have plenty of H-4895 which is a relatively fast powder. Can I go to a faster powder without pressure problems???

I see the reasoning for the 150 gr. and the 180 gr. bullets but where in this choice does the 165 fit and for what reasons???
