Ground blinds with shoot thru screens

Anyone here have any experiance using these for bow hunting? I would have no problem shooting thru them with a rifle for closer range shots, but kinda iffy about with a bow. Maybe to 20 yards but further than that ???

    Boar hog BBQ

We have this rather larger boar hog that has got to go. I have had "iffie at best" results with cooking wild boar. I dont have the manpower to cut this boar and let him clean out. I have in the past castrated smaller boars after killed and some came out good, some not so good. Any...

    Ticks!!!

I'm trying to buy this piece of property that is joined on one side to a National Forest. While checking out the area this weekend my son-in-law and myself found ourselves covered in ticks. I had 6 and he had 9 on him in about an hour and a half. Very small ones too. My question is if I buy...

    Red dot/Halo sight

Hi fellas. I'm looking to try either a red dot or a halo style sighting system on a brush rifle. I had an AimPoint red dot on a TC contender back in the 80's but was not impressed with it. Had a hard time seeing anything in low light conditions. I was wondering if anyone uses one (a modern one)...

    Wild Cow Hunting

I remembered an article that I read in Outdoor Life back in the 80's on hunting cows. Not cow elk but the moo-moo kind. They were doing this around the TX-LA area. I can't remember if the hunts took place in the 80's or if it was some time earlier. The author was using a .458, that I do recall...

    Scope Camera

Does anyone know of a scope camera or atleast a good way of mounting a small digital cam to your Rifle? I would love to have some footage of some of my hunts. Has anyone tried this? All my stands fit only one so another person is not an option.

.444 or .375 Win Bolt or Auto?

I have Googled this to death without any results, so I need your help. Has anyone ever made a bolt action or auto rifle in either .444 or 375 Win? Or even the 45/70. This came up over drinks one evening discussing the perfect brush gun for hogs and deer. I know there are many lever actions and...

    Ground Blinds

How many of you use ground blinds for hunting deer? I just got me a nice one built on the edge of an ancient road bed. I have about 25 to 50 yards of clearing at any angle. The rest is very thick scrub oak and mature oaks. Not a good place to put a tree stand but perfect for a blind.

    Worst Firearm Gimmick

Hi all. We see all kinds of new guns, things you can put on or hang on them or are supposed to improve the function of the piece. What gimmicks have you guys bought into that were just junk?

    Question on Copper Fouling

Hi all. I would like you guys opinion on copper fouling. Do some bullets (like 55gr. FMJ) copper foul a barrel faster than others? On a previous post I condemed a scope on my Savage 12 .223 for 6 inch groups all of a sudden. It turned out to be copper fouling. I am used to cleaning the copper...

    Accushot Scope????

Hi all. I just returned from a local gun show. A vendor was selling some scopes from Accushot. The one that caught my eye was a 8x32x56 w/illuminated mil-dot reticle. Looked pretty good so I picked it up and looked thru it. I was then really interested. I am planing on buying a Bushnell 4200, so...

    Who REALLY made your Rifle?!

HI All. OK this is a research question. Lets say you buy a Remington, Savage, or what ever rifle. It comes proudly wearing the manufacturers name, said warranty etc. Who Really made this rifle? Did Remington, Savage, etc MAKE it or did they just assemble the parts? I am a Master Tech for Volvo...

    Bad Day at the range

My weekend at the range started off good. First target I shot had a 5 shot group about 1inch- good to start. Next target my nephew shot first 2 rounds right in the center about 2mm apart, the next about 5 inches high and right. Thought it was a flier, but then we fired another ~40 rounds with...

    Best way to freeze meat.

Hi all. I would like to get some good advice on putting up meat from a good hunting season. With the liberal bag limits here in Florida on deer, I can get plenty of meat. I have tried just wrapping in freezer paper, vac-pac with one of them home done things, even freezing in jugs of water. It...

    Crossbows during Primitive Weapon Season

Hi all. I am wondering if any of you are allowed to use crossbows during bow season in your state? Here in Florida we can only use them during gun season, but have heard talk of a special season or a being allowed to use them a few days of bow season.

    Rifle Ability VS Shooter Ability

Hi all. I just returned from a wonderfull weekend full of shooting rifles and shotguns, lie swapping and beverage tasting. I got to show off my new Savage 12 .223 and overwhelmingly impressed all:D. It appears that my friends (all hunting buddies) are very happy with softball sized groups at 100...

Suggestions on a 300 yrd rifle

I am saving to get a VERY good 300 to 400 yard rifle. I am strongly leaning to the .223 for a number of reasons. Cost of ammo for plinking and I am very familiar with the round are a few. I am also interested in the Rem 700 PSS. My local vendor says that it will shoot 1/2 to 1/3 moa if I do my...
