    Swapping bullets

Ive collected Lee Classic loaders for most calibers I shot, but they are mostly an emergency backup plan. I have not however handloaded/reloaded a single cartridge. So please pardon me if this is a dangerous or stupid question. I have a couple falling blocks in 7x57 and 7x57R. Factory ammo is...

Converting 5.6x35R to 22 Hornet (5.6x36R in metric)

https://www.gunbroker.com/item/997024763 I sure would love to convert this old beauty into something usable. I can only find info on the parent cartridge (22wcf). I can’t locate dies or brass in the child cartridge. I understand there’s a couple thousandths difference in bullet diameter between...

    Rolling Block ID help

I may have made a foolish purchase. I have no idea who made this Rolling Block, I was just mesmerized by the color case hardening. The shop owner said he was helping an older gent liquidate his collection, and this was the final piece of that collection. The gent said the rifle was a gift from...

Cleaning crusty old Redfield aperture sight

I picked up an old Model 75 Redfield peep sight for a new-to-me old target 22lr. It’s covered in dried oil and grime. The adjustments still click and seem to operate smoothly. I don’t want to remove any of the bluing or change the finish. Can I use carb or brake cleaner, or is that too aggressive?

    1885 - modern steel

I’m looking to add to my collection of single shots. I have a lovely Ruger #1 RSI in 7x57. Recently I nabbed a 1930’s production German falling block in 22lr. I don’t shoot near as much as I like, but I don’t collect to just own. I love the slick actions and the “snick” and machine work that...

Trigger Spring Kits - K Frame

I picked up an older Model 10-5 a couple months ago. It’s an old department gun that’s nickel plated in good condition with a hammer mounted firing pin. The trigger is smooth and clean feeling. The break is fine after a little stacking, but dang if it isn’t heavy. I’d guess it’s around 15 lbs...

    Wild Alaska

Not sure if this is old news or new news. It looks to me like our forum member or ex member; not sure which, has his own tvshow or is part of one. Is Ken or Wild Alaska the same salty old bird I remember from here?

    Front Sight options

I'd like your opinion on a few different types of front sights for my Winchester 94. Specifically front reticle (made by KNS), globe and tunnel (various manufacturers). I am using a Williams peep on the rear and I think having another tube on the front may make lining things up a little...

    Winchester Model 12

It's kinda bitter sweet when guns get passed down from aging parents. My father kept his S&W 38 and a Win Model 63 22lr (oh what a beaut), but handed down a really old Sears Long Tom and a Winchester 12. The Long Tom is a beaten down, sawed off, break action old war horse with almost no value...

Early Christmas Present - eTrax Summit HC

My wife is a really hip chick. I got turned around last year in the Sam Houston Nat. Forest. I was "afearing" having to sleep under a log, but I finally made it back to camp at nightfall. I've been planning to get a trail GPS all year in prep for this weekend's public land hunt, but money has...

    Buying guns on the internet

Just in case you were not sure what some of these words really meant: Mint - the previous owner thought that Scope mouthwash was the perfect bore cleaner. Patina - a red dust-like substance that forms on ferrous metals in the presence of oxygen. NIB - ( New In Box ) translation: “this weapon...

Sellier & Bellot SPCE (soft point cutting edge)

Finding factory hunting load for the 7x57 can be challenging sometimes. I should start to handloading, but I'm a hunter not a shooter and it's hard to justify the startup cost. I tried a new load in preparation for whitetail/hog hunting. I've moved up for 140 grain soft points to 173 grain...

    Tred Barta - Spinal Stroke

Tred's show is the only hunting show I bother to catch anymore. I don't always agree with his opinions, but I have the utmost respect for his techniques and willingness to be as real as possible. Godspeed in your recovery, Tred.

    Aging hunters

I don't mean hanging them so they taste better.....:) Almost half the fellas on a lease I get a guest pass to are great-grand-parents. At least half of those guys have had health problems including by-pass heart surgery, High BP or diabetes. What are some of the precautions you take for...
