    What might be the best choice for a high quality, but very simple scope for a Savage 10FP/.308 for 100 - 200 yard target shooting? So far the Leupold Vari-X lll 4.5-14x40 AO has been recommended.

    Winchester 9422 or Marlin 1897 Cowboy

    Anyone prefer one over the other? Thinking of trading in my 9422 for the Marlin 1897 Cowboy. The 9422 has a loose magazine rod when the magazine is empty which seems wrong and the Marlin has a nice octagonal barrel.
