My best groups so far (pictures!)

Today I shot my best 5-shot group ever from my Savage 12FV chambered in .223. I know they're nothing phenomenal, but for me they're very good. Sorry for the poor pictures! Both of these groups were shot with my own handloads. This is my best ever 3-shot group Here is my new personal best...

    Chamfering cylinders for speedloaders

My girlfriend surprised me with a pair of speedloaders and a belt pouch for Christmas (she's a keeper). I have got to be one of the luckiest guys in the world to have a girlfriend who supports my habits. My question is how do I go about chamfering the cylinders for quicker use of the...

Do I HAVE to tumble my brass?

I'm loading up a bunch of .38 specials and won't be getting a tumbler for another month or so. Does the brass HAVE to be cleaned? Will it affect performance in any way? Or does tumbling just make it "pretty"?

    Badger Custom Grips for GP100

I have a new GP100 I'm looking to dress up and I love the way the grips from badger custom grips look. I emailed the owner (Jim) over a month ago and still haven't received a reply. has anyone had any experience with this company or his work?

    AR-15 or Glock 17?

I didn't know where to post this so, Mods, feel free to move it wherever you deem necessary. I've decided to buy myself a gun for Christmas. Now here's my dilemma. As much as I DESPISE falling into the post-election frenzy, I WOULD like to make a few purchases for assurance. Both are weapons...

    GP100 won't eject smoothly

I just bought a new GP100 and I'm shooting .38 special reloads out of it but I've noticed a problem. When I'm trying to eject the spent rounds, they won't easily dump out. They fall and catch about a half inch from the top of the shell. Could this be because I'm not crimping enough?

Trouble with safety on Savage 12FV

I recently put a new thumbhole stock on my Savage 12FV and upon putting the action back in the stock, I found the safety will no longer return to the "full safe" position (Savages have 3 positions). When the action is out of the stock, it operates normally. I looked around in the stock and can't...

    Gun show rip-offs

There's a fairly large gun show coming to Jackson, MS, this weekend, and I'm sure that things are going to be insane. I'd like to buy an AK or SKS because I don't own one yet, but I know that with the panicking going on, prices will be ridiculous. I almost hate to go because I know the prices...

Full auto 10/22 (not the usual thread)

Before you assume I'm trying to shave my sear to convert my Ruger to full auto, it's not. There are dozens of videos on youtube.com of different people with several different weapons (most often a 10/22) that have converted them to full auto. How are these people able to do this legally? I...

    Revolvers still capable combat firearms?

Here's where I stand: Many people refer to 1911's as the "end-all-be-all" of combat firearms. The 1911 usually only holds 7-8 rounds of 45acp. There are dozens of available revolvers chambered in large calibers like .357 AND .45acp and the ones I'm referring to hold anywhere from 6 to 8 rounds...

How much do you shoot per range trip?

I was loading pistol rounds this past weekend on my single stage press which took me about six hours for only 400 rounds of .357. When I can honestly shoot 200 through my new GP100:D without trying. I usually try to supplement by shooting about half a brick of .22 to get my fix without...

Holster that won't wear on stainless finish

Several months ago, I came to you guys to get recommendations for my first revolver. I just ordered my Ruger GP100 6" stainless and now I'm looking for a fairly nice range holster. My main issue is finding a holster that will wear as little as humanly possible on the finish of my new revolver...

    HELP!! My baby is rusting!

In April I bought a Savage 12FV for target shooting. Since then, every time I've taken her out, I always thoroughly wipe her down with oil before putting it back in it's case. I recently moved up to college and since we can't keep guns on campus I have to keep them at my grandfather's house. To...

How difficult is it to "build" an AR? By "build" I mean, if I buy a complete lower and a complete upper do they just snap together?

    Opinions on Boyd's rifle stocks

I have recently found out about Boyd's gun stocks and have found a gorgeous stock to fit on my Savage to replace the dreaded "tupperware". Has anyone had experience with their stocks? The particular model is 503-140 and can be found here http://www.boydsgunstocks.com/BrowseEbus/Varmintall.asp...

    New semi-auto rifle suggestions

I am in the market for a new semi-auto rifle for plinking. I reload so that should help with ammo costs. Now my question is: What would be a good semi-auto rifle for cheap plinking? An SKS in good condition? Or a good used AK? Hell, I'm not opposed to a relatively cheap AR as well! My price...

    Looking for revolver

I am in the market for a used revolver. Preferably stainless but I am not opposed to a blued finish. Looking for a .357 so I can shoot 38's as well. I want reliability, durability, and at least a 4" barrel. How much will this run me? and any suggestions on models would be great!
