    9mm Glock vs. 357, 40, 10, 45 Glock

My friend, who is a long time devout Glock fan, told me that 9mm Glocks (model 17, 19, 26, etc.) seems to be more reliable than other caliber Glock pistols. I guess he should know since he only owns and shoots Glock pistols for past 10 years and currently has 89 of them in every model, caliber...

    Ruger Blackhawk vs. Super Blackhawk

Looking at the Ruger catalog I noticed that the weight of SBH is several ounces more than BH with same barrel length. Is this due to the unfluted cylinder and larger grip or is the SBH frame and/or cylinder really larger? I alway figured that BH, SBH and large frame Bisley used same size frame.

    How do you shoot groups?

Is there is "correct" way of shooting for groups when testing accuracy of ammo or gun? For years I been shooting all handguns at 25 yards and I would shoot 4 groups of 5 shot each using sandbags. For rifles I shoot 4 groups of 3 shots each at 100 yards again using sandbags to rest the forearm...

    Handguns For Soldier

Few months ago I had posted here about issuing handgun to each soldier and general consensus was that this was not desirable. Tonight I was talking with my father and two cousins who served in Vietnam and they all agreed that almost all the combat soldiers would love to be issued a handgun and...

Do You Think 260Rem Can Make It?

Do you think 260 Remington will be around in 10 years from now? It seems that 6.5mm (.260) caliber has never been very popular in this country except 6.5x55 Swedish which survives due to surplus rifles. The new 260 Remington seems to be popular these days but perhapse its just a passing fad...

    5.2gr Win231 Too Much In 9mm?

For past 12 years or more my standard handload for 9mm has been 5.2gr of Win231 with 115gr JHP from Remington or Winchester. This load was recommended to me by a trusted friend who had reloaded 9mm for many years and I saw from one of his loading manual (Lyman?) that it was not above max load...

Low Muzzle Flash Ammo in 9mm & 45ACP

Few years ago I was able to shoot some "defense" ammo in a indoor range with all lights out to check for muzzle flash. I don't remember all the ammos I tried but in 9mm Cor-Bon had lowest muzzle flash and in 45ACP it was the Federal 230gr Hydrashok. However, Hydrashok was quite a bit more...

Which is your most reliable pistol?

Revolvers don't count :p Also, forget about the first 500 rounds break-in period. My Beretta 92FS is the most reliable pistol I have ever owned. It has almost 12,000 rounds through it now and I had total 2 jams (both were failure to feed) with my handloads but it has never jammed with...

    New Federal 45ACP Hydrashok?

Today I finished shooting my last box of "old" Federal 230gr 45ACP Hydrashok which I purchased back in 1993 and open a "new" box of same ammo which I purchased about 6 months ago. I noticed the nose profile of the "new" ammo has changed to more round shape compared to the truncated shape of the...

    Hey "Mark King"

Do you know where or how I can contact Brommeland? I been looking for past few years but I can't find him anywhere. I have few holsters I want from him. I think his work is among the best around.

    How Accurate Are Dragunov Rifles?

I got to shoot my friends Dragunov rifle this weekend and I was very disapointed with the accuracy. I shot several different brands of ammo including some commercial ammo and the accuracy ranged from 5" to 7" with all brands (best 3 shot group was 4 1/2") at 200 yards. Is this "typical" for...

    Stage Coach 12G SxS Price

What is a fair price for Rossi 12G StageCoach SxS shotgun with external hammers. I have an offer from a friend for one in new condition for $200 but I think these shotguns are worth about $400. I just don't want to take advantage of my friend.

Should Every Solder Be Armed With A Handgun?

Most military units issue handguns only to officers or specialist (machine-gunners, pilots, drivers, etc.) or to solders who's job is not front line combat while your typical front line grunt only has the rifle. Why is this the case? In reality is there a role for the handgun in combat by...

    Price of a Swedish Rifle

I have a Swedish M96 rifle built in 1900 at Obendorf (sp?) Mauser. The finish is very goo to excellent with no rust, pitting, excellent bore, etc. and the stock only has some minor dings. I have heard that these rifles are quite rare and is worth more than ones built at Swedish factory. Can...

    45ACP Pin Load

Any suggestions for a good pin load in 45ACP? I'm just starting in this sport and I tried 200gr SWC at 900 fps last time but I'm thinking of heavier load to make sure pins do down with decent shots or lighter to get faster recovery time. Which way should I go?

    Nerds with guns :)

We all have bunch of letters after our name which defines our education and are all pretty gentle, easily excitable, quiet bunch who talk about latest and greatest software and best place to find French...

    Bullet style and accuracy

I have noted from reviewing my reloading data from past 14 years that there seems to be an patern between bullet style and accuracy. By this, I mean that certain bullet style/weights are easier to develop accurate loads than others. In the calibers that I reload I noticed that following bullet...
