    Flinch fix

Howdy all, I just recently bought my 2nd of 2 high-power rifles. The first- a bolt action 30-06, the second- a bolt action .243 win. I did ok with the .243 the last time I took it out (I only fired at 50 yards max with irons). I'm taking out the 30-06 tomorrow for the first time in a while...

    Digital scale accuracy

Hey all, I got a hornady GS-1500 included with a LocknLoad kit- I've calibrated it, let it acclimate to room temp, crossed all the t's and dotted the i's. After calibration the scales read anywhere from 100.02 to 100.05 with a 100g weight on the scales. Am I just being too picky, or are these...

    Slight malfunction..

This past weekend, my wife and I took a trip to the range and fired her XD sub-compact in 9mm. We bought the gun used, and have since fired probably 1500 rounds through it with no problems. On the last few mags, the slide wouldn't lock open on the last shot. I tried putting a mag in, and pulling...

Link to breakdown of shotgun barrels?

Hi, I'm pretty new to shotguns, not the rest of the firearm world. I'm trying to get a simple understanding of the variations that shotguns and their cartridges come in- 1) smoothbore or rifled barrels 2) shot shell or slug what i'm wondering- can you shoot shot shell/bird shot ONLY through...

    AR poll

If you were going to purchase your first AR-15, in 5.56/223, with a budget of $2000 for just the rifle, which model would you choose and why? I realize the Ruger 556 is piston driven, and not gas impingement, so if you prefer one design over the other, please include why. Thanks for your...

    9mm of the rifle world

I've settled on the 9mm luger as my main caliber for pistols because it's cheap, easy to find, and has light recoil. So, what's the 9mm of the rifle world? Here's why i ask- the only two things i require in a rifle is that 1) i can shoot deer with it and 2) it has low recoil. But, i don't know...

    bullet seating depth

ok, newb here. just wondering what some of you experienced gentlemen have to say about this. When you're reloading a cartridge that you've never loaded before, and you're experimenting with bullet seating depth to find that sweet spot for the freebore, do you generally start with the deepest...

    The gun genie

Anyone had any experience with the Gallery of Guns- Gun Genie? i've seen some incredible deals on there, that just downright seem to be too good to be true. I'm just wondering if anybody's bought anything from them. thanks

    284 win reload question

my hornady reload manual talks about some of the downsides to reloading the 284, more specifically how the bullet has to be seated deep in the case in lever and autoloading actions to fit their magazines and actions. It then goes on to talk about how "modern lever and autoloading actions are...

i've got a Taurus 24/7 in .45 that i like just fine, except for the trigger. anyone know if there's a drop-in job possible here, or would i have to send it to a smith? the gun's been plenty reliable, and if i could get a decent trigger on it, i'd like to keep it. thanks for your input...

    Need advice on hunting rifle

I'm new to the whole world of rifles. I went whitetail hunting with my father when i was young, and that was about 12 years ago. I want to get into hunting again, especially since i'm living in Colorado for the next little while. Anyway, i ended up trading a semi-auto pistol in for a Mossberg...

    DA/SA, DAO?

i know this question is a fun one, because just in the world of semi-autos, we have Striker fired, and hammer fired pistols. First, what is the actual definition of Double Action? My understanding is that with a hammer fired pistol- starting with the hammer NOT cocked, you squeeze the trigger...

    best .45 ammo

If your barrel looks like this one you're probably going to have trouble loading HPs in any grain. By all means, try it, but if you have failure to feed problems, that's why. Best of luck to you
