    Incredible Shot

A .50 BMG 1 mile shot, with 12 lives at stake. The SAS sniper drops an ISIS executioner and his buddies by hitting the flamethrower on his back, causing it to explode, killing the 'burner' and 2 others filming what was to be the death by burning of 12 hostages. There's a question here for...

    Possible NFA question

A friend inherits a relative's gun collection, mostly .22's - 45's and a few shotguns. (This is NOT me) So the question is, if there was also an item removed from a European battlefield about 70 years ago (that used belt fed ammo) and had that some how ended up in such a collection, how would...

Revolver problems with good or bad seal

I'm not a revolver guy, but was wondering about someone shooting an old revolver that didn't have a good gas seal between the barrel and cylinder. I'm guessing there's a couple of problems: 1) lower muzzle velocity 2) hot gas escaping might burn your hand Is that common? How do you stay safe...

.50 BMG Fun in Slow Motion

We took Boomer the Barrett .50 out this weekend, what a blast. Click here to see .50 BMG "Boomer" in Slow Motion Recoil is significantly less than a 12 Ga, more a push than a kick. You can see the serious damage to the alternator below, where the guts were pushed out the back. Once you...

Real world 330AM: Lyman, SC- CHL holder stops nightclub shooting with 1 to the leg

Here's a real world example of a nightclub shooting at 330 AM in Lyman, SC earlier this week. A CHL holder stopped the threat with a shot in the leg. I don't personally know the stress this CHL holder was going through, and the leg shot worked, but I'm guessing he wasn't aiming for the leg or...

Why not Tungsten match rounds for 70% greater ballistic coefficient?

I understand it is difficult to machine, but with a 70% greater density than Lead, and assuming you could machine the exact same size match sized ammo, why wouldn't competition shooters go for the much higher Ballistic Coefficient of a tungsten round when cost for some of the large bore match...

Concealed Handguns vs Orlando terrorism last night

According to numerous news reports at least 20 are dead and 40 wounded after an FBI agent described "domestic act of terrorism" happened last night in Orlando. ***Without*** getting into politics and religion, there is a simple question: Would a CCW / LTC / CHL made a significant difference...

Have you picked up / seen ...fired a Punt Gun?

I'm reading about punt guns which were apparently an 1860-1920's weapon used wo drop a a large number of birds at once. The barrel was up to 2" diameter. Has anyone here ever held one? I understand most were mounted on small boats ("punts") but apparently there were some that were shoulder fired.

To Lap or Not: That is the Scope question

I have the new Barrett .50 cal rifle, and a very good Steiner scope. I'm hearing a few saying I need to lap the mounts. Others are saying, no, they're not cast, they are machined and from the same vendor as the scope. Any other opinions out there? Thanks in advance.

NFA Trust # of Co-Trustees: 9 too many?

After reading some of the other trust related posts here, I'm a little confused: I just got the trust paperwork today. There currently are 9 family members on the trust, easy to change. Question is, do I really want that many on it? Not sure with 41F coming. If I send it in in the next week...

Post Brussels: What did the US CHL applications do in the past

With the tragic bombings in Brussels this morning, the question came up if CHL applications went up in the past when terror events occurred OFFSHORE. I don't see a straight forward way to correlate as there is often a lag and different states take different times. Any suggestions?
