    Surefire 1, Attacking dog 0

Last night, my wife & I were out walking one of our dogs when a neighbors dog (rotweiller/mutt) busted out from his fence and came straight at us in a definate attack mode. I was carrying a Surefire 8Z (like a 9P but rechargeable) and beamed him. He immediately changed course and ran head first...

    Pros/Cons of 9X23,10mm, .357 Sig, .38 Super?

Could some of your knowledgeable people tell me the advantages/disadvantages of the 9X23, .357 Sig, 10mm and even the .38 Super. I haven't gotten a new custom gun in at least a month and need to get one started. I know that Dane Burns is a fan of the 9X23, Brian Bilby likes the 10mm and I assume...

    Gunsmith class with Brian Bilby

Tentatively, Brian Bilby will be in Atlanta on Saturday, 10/28 to conduct a 1 day pistolsmithing class. Everyone who attends will get at least 1 free "service" as he will need items to demonstrate on. Cost should be around $150.00 but with the "priceless" value of "Bilby Bob" expertise, this is...

    Where to buy body armor?

Another thread inspired this question. Where is the best place to buy body armor? I wouldn't mind getting some for range use but I don't want to spend a fortune due to the limited use. I wouldn't have a problem with used (worn, not shot) so if anyone has any suggestions, I'd like to hear them...

    Any opinions on Brycoat finish?

There's a company in FL www.brycoat.com that claims they can apply a titanium nitide coating with a black finish to any metal including aluminum. They have a low temperature vat that doesn't require the extreme temps that would effect alloy's adversely. They say this coating has a hardness...

Remember the dream gun? Here it is!

I know it's obnoxious but I just have to show off my Jim Garthwaite custom. It's a lightweight enhanced Commander slide on a lightweight Officer's frame. Details are Kart match barrel, King's speed safety, Brown high sweep grip safety, 40 lpi checkering on back of slide, 30 lpi on front & back...

load advice for .45 200gr FMJ RN

Picked up some 200gr RN FMJ from West Coast only to find that none of the manuals list loads. I typically use 231, tite-group or universal clays. Also, should OAL stay the same as with a 230gr RN? Any thoughts or suggestions?

Suggestions for IWB for Kahr MK9

Any thoughts on a good IWB for my MK9? I generally prefer leather over Kydex but am open to ideas. It will generally by used around Atlanta which gets pretty balmy in the summer and clothing can be minimal.

Help me avoid dangerous reloading situation

Had a spooky event today. Went over and shot some .45 230gr FMJ reloads at the range and had a squib. Looks like somehow, a case didn't get a powder charge but primer went off and bullet lodged in the barrel. Fortunately, it was near the breach so the next bullet wouldn't chamber and I luckily...

Check out this work on my Kahr!

Just got the MK9 back from Jim Garthwaite www.garthwaite.com and it looks great! He checkered the front strap at 30 lpi, beveled trigger guard, nose and mag well, added a trijicon front dot and smoothed the action (not much needed there). Just had to show it off to someone who might appreciate...

Are guns a good investment opportunity?

With all the talk about limiting firearms purchases, does it make any sense to buy a variety of generic pistols (1911's, j-frames, whatever) for later resale? Seems like if they are going to get scarce and/or harder to get, prices should in theory rise. Any thoughts? ------------------ My idea...

    Wilson,Rock River,Bilby,etc..

I'm narrowing down my decision on a new toy and wanted to see if anyone had any thoughts. The Wilson lightweight compact, Rock River Commando Elite and Brian Bilby's Pocket Rocket all have 4" barrel on Officer frame and all are great items. Can anyone shed any light on why one would be...
