Any pistol caliber loaders using Redding Copmetition Seater die?

I'm wondering if any of you here regularly use the Redding Competition Bullet Seater die for your pistol loading, say in .38spl/.357mag? I just bought one, and am setting it up. I have a long question prepared, but it is aimed only at Redding Comp Seater die users. If there are none here, then...

    Non-selfdefense plinking loads for 2" .38spl snubs

I hope with the title I can attract those using their 2" .38spl snubnose revolvers for plinking, at least part of the time, to comment here. This place seems to have among the most interesting and interested posters, so here goes... I recently got into the .38 special snubnose revolver when a...

Looking for legend of little forum icons

I've not been able to find a legend for the little forum icons which show up alongside certain messages. I'm not talking about the little smilies. Here's a good example: there is a little green button on the lower left of the message info box, which is at the left of the message.

Made my decision -- thanks for the help!

After reading countless threads here and elsewhere, I made up my mind what to get: First of all, I just ordered a chronograph (PACT w/printer), and a vibrating tumbler (Lyman). I can use those right away while I wait to order my press, dies, powder stuff next month. I'll be getting a Redding...

rust patch on blue SWm10 barrel

Any suggestions on best way to treat this little rust patch on the barrel of my SWm10-5 circa 1970 (photo below)? I don't want to start working on it until I know the most prudent method. My guess is 3M green scrubby pad with oil and gentle rubbing. any better ideas? Also, when I've got the...

    slightly dented brass -- .32acp

In the photo below, you can see my slightly dented brass cartridges (.32acp). Can these small dents get straightened out during the resizing; and will the resized cartridges be strong and good candidates for reloading? Or should such used brass get the heave-ho? Obviously, I've never reloaded...

question on how to throw powder (pistol)

question on how to load powder (handgun) I'm reading the books, and it seems there are two ways to put powder in your handgun cartridges: 1- in the press using a die 2- manually through a funnel (off the press) I'm planning on getting a turret press, and I cannot visualize the powder going in...

    SW M10-5 firing pin play?

I just got a used S&W model 10-5 d/a revolver. The gun shoots well and accurately, but the firing pin wiggles a little. It is pinned in there, but there is a very slight movement up and down as if the pin is into a slightly larger hole. I am new to revolvers, and this is my first S&W. an older...

I would like to get into handloading certain handgun cartridges: .357 magnum .38 special 9x19 9x18 9x17 .32 ACP Is the RCBS Pro 2000 a good kit to get? Is the Speer Reloding Manual #17 all the book I need? How about the Rock Chucker Master Loading Kit? I have no experience in loading. I am...

    Ridding GP100 barrel of lead

I've read here that lead is difficult to clean from a gun barrel. What is the best way to clean a stainless Ruger GP100 4" barrel that's been shooting LRP ammo? After how many rounds should this be done? Thanks.

    Replace LaPierre

Lapierre didn't look good vs Shumer on Meet The Press this morning. It degenerated into he said . . . she said. To top it off, Shumer was wise enough to present a football (human touch) to the Buffalo Bills fan, Tim Russert, while LaPierre looked like a lobbyist from D.C. The N.R.A. needs to...

    9mm Makarov bullet shape (FMJ)

Is the rather blunt, almost spherical tip of the fmj Makarov round an unacknowledged benefit to the "knock-down" power of this round? Would this feature also prevent over penetration compared with the 9mm short, or 9mm Luger? Am I over simplifying this? I asked this question in another forum...

    dry fire practice

When dry firing a new pistol, using snap caps of course, is there any benfit to the smoothing of the trigger action; or is the dry fire exercise only of benefit to the shooters hand/finger control? If there is a benefit to the smoothing of trigger function, is dry firing repeatedly (with snap...
