    Mitchell High Standard Citation 2

So I found a reasonable deal on this target pistol. This pistol was NIB, never fired, 1 mag with all the paperwork. My research: Mitchell and High Standard had a copyright infringement issue, forcing Mitchell out. The pistol is quirky, but once broken in and dialed in is a heckuva pistol...

    Remington Sportsman Model 58

So I've had this 20G Model 58 in the back of the safe for a while now. This is another gun I inherited. I've never shot it, nor ever seen it shoot. I loaded a couple shell and had difficulty in getting the shell stop to work properly after more than two or so shells were fed into the magazine...

    Trap and Skeet

I've been a total of two times. I officially suck at it, but it sure is a lot of fun. First time I shot my Dad's 870 that I inherited. It is a Tx DPS issue and was presented to him after his good friend, a DPS trooper, passed away. So, I really don;t want to shoot it. Last time, I shot this...

Baretta 92FS - Made in USA v Italy

So other than geographic or political, any differences between the two? Is one preferred over the other? Local pawn shop has one in 0mm that looks almost new. No papers or box, just a single mag. A 92FS in 95% condition is worth ....

    Marlin 336 30-30

At the gun show today and I just kept walking past this Marlin lever action. I recall my Dad had one, said it was his favorite gun. So I stopped and looked. (I took the inbound pass) Made in 1971 which is pre-safety. Some prefer the safety button and some prefer the "half-cocked" safety. My...

    Magazine storage

I've been using a cupbord shelf space saver I got at Walmart for $3. Its not holding up very well. Bending, tweaking and the mags fall out, expecially if loaded. How do you store your mags?

Help me out ... attaching a sling to an AR platform

There are so many options and possibilities, my head is spinning. I've just about decided on a 2 point tactical. Problem is, I have no rail system on the forearm. I do have a short rail on top of the gas block. I think it's for an iron sight mount. But I have an EOTech and don;t plan on...

AR accuracy - cold vs hot barrel

Went hog hunting this weekend and a friend was using his Spikes AR in 223. It was fresh off the range, shooting about 50 rounds. Grouping was 2-3" at 100 yds. Two shots, hours apart, this weekend were misses. hmm. Set up a target and shot 5 rounds. First two were high and left about 8 inches...

New addition - Mossberg 590 "Nickel" finish

At a local gun show this weekend and passed this guy a couple times. So I stopped and it was priced about right ... nothing special, but what I've seen guns like it for sale at Bud's and on Gunbroker. And as I was looking, another buyer walked up and was interested in a Mossberg 590 tactical...

    Gifting a gun

I live in Texas. One of my duaghters lives in Washington State. How can I legally and painlessly go about giving/gifting her a handgun for personal protection? I quickly read through the state laws there and it's not illegal to even open carry, although heravily frowned upon. But an owner has...

    Making something out of nothing

In a never-ending quest for my shooting gear and weapons to be organized and not spend any money doing it, I was wondering what items others have found that were made for one thing and wound up being a perfect and helpful "tool" to keep things neat and tidy in and around the gun safe. A couple...

Took a couple weapons to a local outdoor range. There was a decent 15-25mph breeze blowing yesterday and it made some interesting target groupings. hen I got home, I tore my XDm down to clean and it was caked with a fine grit of sand, held together with lube. I learned 3 things ... 1)...
