What is the reasoning behind putting that yellow-green colored filter on a weapon light? Does it really make a difference as opposed to using a white light?

I hope this isn't a sensitive question, but is there something wrong with taking a head shot when all else fails? You hear these stories about how so and so took 20 rounds of .45 to the chest and kept coming; why not take a head shot if it doesn't work anywhere else? Just wondering.

I'm new here (one of the "loonies" from Glock Talk). Most people from GT know that I'm a big fan of the USP and have owned almost all of them at one time or another. I bet this has been covered before, but what is the difference between the P8 and USP? I don't really know the history too much.
