Tell us about your "closest call"......

Few people in here have actually had to fire lead at another person, but with so many of us carrying handguns for self-defense, there should certainly be some good stories concerning the "almosts," and "close calls." I think hearing some of your experiences would vicariously help to increase my...

Another "just bought a....." thread! :)

My tax returns went toward a good cause: my first 1911! It's a S&W in stainless steel with fully adjustable rear sights. I bought the Pachmayr grips from a friend for $20, but not sure how I like them. The gun, however, I am in love with!!! :p Here's a pic........

    Help on bullet pullers.....

Have never had to pull bullets before, but....now I do. They are .357 mags. Do I need a certain one for that caliber, or is it a one-size-fits-all thing? About how much should I be paying for one? Thanks! :D

You have about 6 hours to STOP ME!

I gots da itch, fellas. I gots it reeeeal BAD. In six short hours, unless I am stopped by someone who can coax me back to the sane side of life, I'm going to take some of my tax return money down to the gun store and buy a S&W 1911 .45ACP in beautiful stainless steel. I tossed and turned all...

How many times can I reload .45ACP brass?

I've heard mixed stories on this topic. Some say 12 times max, some say they've done 30 times with no signs of wear. Right now I have ziplock baggies with different batches of brass in them....some marked 3X...some marked 4X and so on. Is this overkill? Should I just mix them all together and...

Have access to military 45ACP brass...keep it?

I'm going shooting tomorrow with a guy who says I can keep all his brass (gets ammo free from his brother). I've heard that military .45ACP is difficult to reload....something about the primers?? Should I keep his brass?

    Anyone have a Taurus PT22?

Getting the girlfriend a birthday gift.....hope she doesn't expect a diamond, cause she's getting a gun! :D The only caliber she's open to is the wimpy .22lr :barf: Does anyone have the Taurus PT22? How many rounds have you put through it and how often does it FTF? Is $150 a good price...

Looking for my FIRST 1911!! Hep me, hep me!

I want to spend less than $750. Right now I have my eye on the Dan Wesson PM7-S which has the Bo-Mar adjustable rear. I definitely want one with a fully adjustable rear sight. I've never shot the DW, so if anyone has feedback on it, I will listen. From what other manufacturer can I get a...

    Powder measure for Unique powder?

I've been using a Lee Perfect Powder Measure which does great for W231, but the Unique, being a large flake, doesn't get quite as accurate. What do you all use for Unique?

    Is "Push / Pull" outdated?

I use a Weaver stance and push with my gun hand while pulling with my support hand. Seems I never hear this technique conveyed to people just learning to shoot. Do y'all use it? If not, then what? Thanks!

Your most accurate powder for .357?

I just started reloading for .357 and only have W231 and Unique. Loaded some 158g JHP's last week with 6.6g of W231 and it turned out some OK groups at 50ft. I'll tone it down a couple 10ths of a grain next time, but was wondering what type of powder y'all have found to be the most accurate in...

    Another Fox Spray question.....

I'm looking to buy some of this stuff. I want a size that will make the best compromise of a) small enough to fit in jeans pocket, and b) contains enough product to really douse an attacker good. Is the 2oz can too big for comfortable carry in pocket? I've never seen one in person and can't...

    W231 in .357mag?

Hi again. Does 6.6g of W231 in .357mag using 158gJHP Hornady bullets sound like too much? A friend said that's what he likes to use, but I don't have my manuals here today. Thanks.

Where was my Dan Wesson .357 made?

How do I tell? I bought it at a gun show this past weekend. I've heard to watch out for the Palmer-made guns. How can I tell by looking at the gun where it was made? My gun says "Monson, Mass" on it. Would that be where it was made or has that always been their headquarters but were made at...

    Who uses W231 with 230g .45?

Hi guys. I've loaded my first couple of batches and tried them out over the past week. All batches (of 20 rounds) were using Hornady 230g FMJ bullets. First I used 5.8g of Unique which was OK. I'd say about the same as factory stuff. Second one I used 5.1g of W231, which was accurate as hell...

    Dan Wesson .357 Part needed!

Hi guys. I bought a Dan Wesson .357 with the removable barrels at a gun show this weekend. The guy didn't have the little tools (wrench and gap gauge) needed to change barrels. Where might I find these 2 tools?

Update: Lee Anniversary kit's maiden voyage....

Hi all. I was asked to let people know how the Lee Anniversary kit worked for me. I loaded 20 cartridges last night (.45 caliber), and shot them up this morning. Looked and acted just like the factory ammo I had been shooting (which is a GOOD thing). I was very happy at how smooth a process it...

    Lee hand-held AutoPrime question....

I read in the Lee manual that their AutoPrime primer is only safe when used with CCI and Winchester primers. I have Federal. What's the difference???

Where to buy the cheapest brass tumbler?

Sorry about all the threads lately, but there is such a wealth of info around here, I can't help asking! I've looked around on the net for a cheap brass tumbler.....$48 is the cheapest I've found. Some on ebay, but they are going for over $55 when shipping is figured in. Anyone know of a...

    Lee Anniversary Kit......check it out......

Here's the link for this kit. I was going to get the RCBS kit, but this looks like it has everything the other one has, for a LOT less. I think Lee has a good name in reloading, so what's the deal here? Is this too good to be true? Shipping is only $7.00 to my doorstep...
