Deja Vu - all over again...

Where is Oliver North (and his like) when we need him? You may remember how Ollie was vilified a few years back. Read on, from an old CNN clip of the Iran-Contra hearings. IT WAS 1987! At a UNC lecture the other day they played an old video of Lt. Col. Oliver North testifying at the...

    M1 Garand Magazine Question

I just realized something reading a thread on Garand rifles. I never tore one apart and examined how the magazine worked. How exactly does it work? Is it spring actuated or is it mechanically operated in some way? Thanks!

    Patriotic Statement

    1. Support our troops, as long as it takes. 2. I hope at the end of this we prove to "The Greatest Generation" that they did not fight for us in vain. 3. When this is all over I want to be able to say, "Osama, who??" Thanks

    Interesting thought...

I pirated this quote from Cheapo's tagline. Considering this statement prompted a couple of questions in my mind: 1. Is there a source or is it Cheapo's own philosophy; 2. If it is true, it opens up a whole realm of possibilities, for example; a. Can I set up my own speed trap to...

What handgun has given you the greatest satisfaction?

Hey folks, I noted the great response to Blueduck357's thread about the most disappointing handguns we've owned and just wondered which handgun has given you that feeling of undying love and respect after the initial lust burned itself out? While a lot of you know I love the Colt Government...

Anybody like to shoot Double Rifles?

Just wondering about any experiences with double rifles. I bought a Baikal 308 x 308 O/U that shoots pretty good and handles like a shotgun. Due to the shotgun type action the rifle has 24" bbls but is shorter than a bolt action carbine. Who besides me likes to shoot double rifles?

    John Wayne's Colt SAA

I recently watched a John Wayne festival including about 7 or 8 films from his later career in the 60s and 70s. In all movies it appeared that he carried a SAA with oddly colored grips, yellowish-tannish is the best way I can describe it. Were those aged ivory grips on the Duke's Colt? If...

    Comments on CZ Bolt Guns...

Anybody have any experience with CZ bolt action rifles? I was fairly impressed with a quick examination of one in 375 Magnum. Quite nice workmanship and materials. Magnum Mauser-type action. How are they for accurate? Where is the best price? Any comments welcome. :)

    Range Report: 308 Two-Barrel

Well, I went back to the gun store and bought the Baikal Over and Under 308 Winchester caliber Double Rifle :D , along with a box of Sellier & Bellot 308 Winchester 144 grain FMJ and immediately sallied forth to the range to check the zero. At the 50 yd marker one bbl was dead on. The other...

    Torquey lil 38

In honor of Oleg I took my titanium 38 S&W Model 342 to the range and fired a box of military hardball. Much to my surprise I was not crippled for life or blinded by the experience. The 342 shoots jes like I remember -- point and click and the IPSC silhouette soon had a hand-sized fifty shot...

    Nmlra

What can you tell me about the National Muzzle Loading Rifle Association? I got a flyer in a recent Brown Bess purchase. Are there any benefits to a casual shooter. I don't fancy myself wearing buckskins, military garb, or a coonskin cap any time soon. How is their publication? Is is...

    The Blame Game...

This made me chuckle. Interesting perspective. Let's see if I understand how America works lately . . . If a woman burns her thighs on the hot coffee she was holding in her lap while driving, she blames the restaurant. If your teen-age son kills himself, you blame the rock 'n' roll music or...

    Brown Bess Musket

I just ordered out a Brown Bess Musket :D from Cabelas. I've been debating on and off over which flinter I was going to get to satisfy my urge to click - swoosh - boom and finally decided on that one. Does anybody else share my interest in the old charcoal burners? By the way, that ol girl...

    For you HV freaks...

How about a plain blowback 45 ACP loaded with a jacketed wooden bullet at 2,500 fps? That's the Schouboe, from 1907. Maybe we've come full circle? I know! We take a 45 ACP jacket and stuff it with feathers. That should be good for 3,200 fps! Dick Casull take note.
