It's sad I have to melt these down

A friend gave me these boolits to melt down. He said they don't work in his 444 Marlin with the micro grooved barrel. Sad, they are gas checked too. There is prbably 30 lbs of these boolits here.

You meet the nicest folks MUZZLELOADING!

I had a friend call me last night and said he was expecting some friends to stop in at his place on their way back home from Alafia River Rendezvous. He told me that I would probably enjoy talking to these Gentlemen. Well I arrived around 8 am this morning, had breakfast with them, and before I...

    Rimfire shelf life

Hello Everyone, I heard folks mention in the past that rimfire ammo does not store well for long periods of time. All this talk was at the peak of the rimfire drought. Any of you tried shooting old rimfire ammo?

    Holding a piece of History.

I forgot to share this with you guys.I had a lengthy conversation with the owner of this rifle at the Jamil Temple Gun show a while back. It's a revolving rifle and the maker escapes my memory. The thing was in truly amazing shape for its age. These are the kinds of tables I go to a gun "show"...

Is a .454 RB enough for deer?

I'm not sure if this will go well here instead of the hunt. But is a .454 RB enough for deer at close range. Say 40 yards or less. Bow hunting range. Will it do enough damage to leave a good blood trail? We will have a couple short range stands this coming season, and it will be awefully hard...

What to do with this little guy.

This little Galesi got left in a truck tool box for a good long while. It runs great, just looks terrible. Need some opinions on how to give it a good refinish on the cheap. I had thought about blasting it then paint. But spray paint doesn't hold up well in my experience. Even baked on engine...

CVA Hunter tough to open after firing.

Hey guys, I need some advice. I bought a CVA Hunter earlier this year in .243. My issue is after firing, it is super tough to open the breech. You have the pull the button with your finger and slap the top of the barrel with your other hand. It only does this after firing. The case is not...

    PT738 Magazines made of UNOBTAINIUM!!

Had I did a little more homework this ONE issue would have swayed me somewhere else. NO ONE has factory magazines for this awesome little pocket pal. While I love the little gun, this is aggravating as all get out.

Differences in the 22 Rifles that can fire S, L, LR

What is the differences on the 22 Rifles that can fire all 3 rounds? For instance can a bolt gun like my MKII fire the shorts and longs? I'm just curious. I've had a few semi autos that could fire all three. But never really knew why it could.

Keep SWMBO away from your BP possibles

SWMBO found out that mutton tallow is very beneficial to her skin, and the 1:8 beez wax / tallow lube is even better for her hands. She had tried all the expensive skin care junk they market toward the ladies. And after some research she says " honey, dont you have mutton tallow for your guns"...

H&R Single barrel slip on recoil pad.

Anyone know offhand what size slip on pad the single barrel H&R and NEF shot guns take. I'm giving my old shotgun a make over. This was my first gun, my Dad gave it to me when I was 10. I wonder if I can buy the screw on recoil pads like some of the newer ones come with from the factory. Thanks...

Wax Paper and Wool Shotgun Wadding?

Hey guys got anudder question. On Short Lanes website he has a video of him shooting his shotgun with 209 adapter. In it he is using just wadded up wax paper for the over powder and over shot wad. The pattern isn't all too bad at 20 and 30 yards. And in Dave Canterbury's video he used raw wool...

Why are the "Hawken" style Rifles more popular

I just got to wondering and figured I would pose the question. Why are the Hawken pattern reproductions more popular with shooters and hunters, than say the Military style repros. Is it the price? Are the Hawken style Rifles more accurate or lighter? Most everyone I see or read about hunts with...

    What did I do now

I got my S&W 60-15 home yesterday, and today I decided to disassemble it completely for cleaning and lube. I had a time getting the pawl installed with the spring in the right position. Now that it's all back together, something isn't right. When I try to cock the hammer in single action mode...

A GREAT Christmas Day Burning Black

I gave my Brother that other CVA Plainsman that I had bought on GB for Christmas. I gave him enough possibles to get him started. After all the talk on the porch, about use, care, and safety of shooting BP, I could see the look on his face. The look that seems to say "what a PITA all this is...
