    1911 slide lapping w/ J&B?

I have an old Sistema that has a rough slide to frame fit. That is, the slide's travel feels rough and uneven. But the slide will almost fall by gravity. I'd had a Bomar sight installed, and the gunsmith squeezed the slide a bit, so I'd had a local gunsmith re-fit it to the frame. He hadn't...

Any legit way to post notice of an auction?

I'd screwed up and posted a notice of a GB auction in Classifieds, so it was pulled - hadn't RTFM. Is there any way to post a notice of a sale on GB or is this verboten?

    Marlin 39 sight combo's?

I have a Marlin 39A from the late 50's w/ the original sights. I'd like to install an aperture sight, either on the receiver or tang. The receiver of this rifle has already been drilled and tapped. But the tang isn't, and I'm guessing that any available tang sight would require this. What...

    CZ 75, parts compatibility w/ P01/PCR?

I've been considering a P01 or PCR. What I'd like to know is whether the parts used on these pistols are compatible with the other 75 based pistols - specifically the trigger and fire control groups, and the sights.

Police service revolver sighting in Philly

I was in the Manayunk district of Philadelphia last weekend for the annual bike race and noticed that a number of the police on duty were wearing revolvers. They appeared to be K-Frame S&W's. But I didn't want to bother these officers while they were attempting to manage the crowd and so didn't...

Can you repair peening on a breech face?

I have an IZH 35 22 caliber target pistol that's starting to show peening on the face of its breech. This is a known problem w/ these pistols. At this point it's doubling with certain brands of 22 LR ammo (e.g. Jagd Pistol Match), but this behavior is sporadic. My suspicion is that the peening...

    Revolver cylinder notch inserts?

I'd read about a modification to the cylinder stop notches intended to prevent peening. Basically a steel card is installed against the contact face of the cylinder notch. Has anyone heard about this technique? - is it effective?

Sales to CA Residents by non-FFL's

I've noticed that a lot of sellers on GB refuse to sell to California residents. Beyond the restrictions imposed by CA's 'safe guns' list, are there additional requirements imposed on out-of-state sellers? Can non-FFL's sell to a CA resident? * I'm going to be selling a few pistols and am...

When to use an oversized cylinder stop?

One of my S&W revolvers is going to need a new cylinder stop before too long. This is a DAO Model 10. There's a bit too much play, in lock-up, in a few of the cylinder notches, and some of these are beginning to show signs of peening above the contact face of the notch. Would an oversized stop...

Holster for a 3" PPC revolver - recommendations?

I'd picked-up a 3" PPC revolver a while ago and would like to find a suitable belt holster. This isn't for CCW, but to use in shooting sports that require a draw from the holster. As you can see, it has a bull barrel and bomar sight rib. The cylinder is cut for moonclips.

    A Revolver Renaissance?

Has anyone else noticed that there's been a marked resurgence in interest in revolvers, among both casual and competitive shooters, over the past few years? What prompts me to ask this is a conversation that I'd had the other day w/ a local precision gunsmith (Mark Hartshorne @ Pinnacle High...

Good years for the Security Six?

I've been looking at some Ruger Security Six's (e.g. the 2.75" and 4" bbl models). But I'm not very familiar with the history of Ruger revolvers. Did the build and finish quality of these differ throughout their production? - for instance, are the early ones better built than the later ones...

What are the different types of tactical training?

My only formal firearms training is in match shooting (e.g. HP and BE) through other shooters and a few clinics. I've made an effort to learn defensive skills, but haven't ever received any structured training in this regard. It's apparent that there are various disciplines (as in the focus...
