    257 Roberts vs. 257 Roberts+P

I'm helping a friend with advice and by donating loading components and equipment so he can begin loading for 257 Roberts. After searching my loading manuals for recipes for his bullet weights, I come across 257 Roberts +P recipes. I know there are handguns that shoot +P cartridges so I...

    Tumbling Bullets

Before loading, has anyone tumbled bullets. I have a box of pointed soft point .257 bullets that have a little haze on them. The only reason I can think of to not tumble is perhaps damaging the soft point. Comments!!!!

    Testing New Load Recipes

Since I began loading, about 15 years ago, I have followed two rules. I load several handgun calibers and 223. (1) Always start with suggested starting charge. (2) I load a few rounds for testing. If all is well, I load what I want. I'm beginning to wonder if it's necessary to test...

    257 Roberts and Barnes Bullets

A friend has begun to collect necessary equipment and components to load 257 Roberts. He has no experience so I am teaching him what I know. The problem is, I have no experience with Barnes bullets so I need a thumbnail sketch of loading (please keep responses short). Some members are very...

    There is no ammo shortage

A couple of weeks ago, I went to a popular shooting area east of Phoenix and north of U.S. 60. This is in a national forest and is not an organized area. There were many people shooting all day in some areas. It sounded like a war. I'm sure some of these people are reloaders but not the...

    Colt 45 Die

I have a set of RCBS 45 Colt dies. Somewhere along the line, I purchased a 45 Colt FL #7 die. I'm having a brain cramp and can't remember why I bought it. Is this a full length die? Why do I need a full length die for 45 colt? Seems the de-capping / resizing die would return the case...

    Foggy Scope

I have a BSA Mil Dot, 6 - 24 X 40. I was recently in colder weather shooting. The scope was very foggy. Upon returning home to warmer temperatures, the scope is perfectly clear. A friend says it probably because the "O" ring sealing the adjustable eye piece is defective or out of place. I...

    Plated Bullets

A few years ago, I think I asked the question about loading plated bullets and whether they can be loaded like jacketed bullets or more like lead bullets. I searched this site but could not find the topic so I will aske the question again. Do I load .357 plated bullets with same recipes as...

    Sportsmans Warehouse

You may have heard, Sportsmans has been purchased by the group that brought Bass Pro and Cabela's together. Not much changed at Bass Pro after the merger except you do see some merchandise with the Cabela's label. My only disappointment in the merger is Bass Pro still doesn't have a...

NRA (and I don't mean National Restaurant Association)

Occasionally, NRA members become disappointed with the organization for various reasons. For me, I am happy to have someone at the mostly national level to take on the serious issues. Something is better than nothing. Many states have organized gun associations. Here in Arizona, we have...

    Gun Confiscation

A few days ago, I had an interesting conversation with my brother (pro gun dude) who said the general U.S. public would never stand a chance against the military and or police when they come knocking on your door. He thinks because they have fully auto firearms and larger stuff, we would not be...

    Lyman Load Data Pamphlet

Does anyone have the Lyman Load Data pamphlet for 38, 357, 44 magnum and 45 Colt? I have the publication but need help reconstructing some information on page 46. At the top of the page is data for 180 grain jacketed hollow point bullets. Some of the information was obscured by perhaps a...

    223 Compressed Loads

A few years back, I loaded .223 with 55 grain jacketed bullets. I used H-335 and BL-C(2), loaded minimum charge and had no problems with pressure. Today, I dusted off the reloading equipment and began organizing for .223 (55 grain bullets). I will produce a few test loads with IMR 4064...

    Taurus PT145 Magazine

I've had a PT145 for a few years. I don't shoot it much so I don't know if I had this problem in its early days. The gun came with two magazines. While checking the gun this morning, I found the slide will not lock to the rear with one of the mags with an empty magazine. The other magazine...

    9x19 cleaning

After many years of shunning 9x19, I finally bought a Taurus G2C. I was given approximately 200 9x19 reloads. I do know the rule of not shooting another loader's cartridges so for the time being, these will not be fired. I plan to pull a few bullets and weigh the powder then refer to my...
