    Forster co-ax press question

Have been thinking about upgrading my old Lyman T-mag. The co-ax seems a good design, although it's a bit unconventional. I really like the spent primer catcher. But after reading the manual, a concern surfaces. The automatic case jaw works with rim diameter of 0.310" or bigger. The smallest...

    9mm Steyr

Will soon start handloading for my Steyr hahn in 9mm Steyr. The plan is to convert 38 super brass by reducing the rim diameter. Sizing, expanding, and seating will be done with a 38 super die set. Powder charge will be 38 auto as starting load, and not to exceed regular 9mm Luger max. Anything...

Cowboy action revolver wood grip finish

A client brought in a colt peace maker replica with simulated ivory grips. He wanted to replace the grips with a pair of Hogue wood grips he had purchased. It was very nice exotic hardwood. The instructions that came with the product recommended polishing with carnubar wax after fitting. But...

Need help on Whitney 1861 navy revolver

Eli Whitney 1861 navy in .36. A cap and ball revolver brought in by a client. Hand spring is broken and missing, so cylinder doesn't always move when hammer is cocked. Found replacement hand for colt 1961 navy. Will it fit? I understand parts need fitting to work correctly, but they need to be...

    Die lock ring, another thread

I like using lock ring to set up die on my press. I have seen those circular print-outs that are to be pasted on lock rings so that die can be adjusted down to 1/32 of a turn. However doesn't it need a some sort of index to point to the graduations? Also how does it work with a Lee style lock...

    .25 acp with trailboss

Anybody tried hand loading .25 acp with trailboss? That's the only fast burning pistol powder I have. Thanks. -TL

    Inexpensive 2-stage AR trigger

Are there 2-stage triggers below $75 for ar-15? It doesn't need to be good out-of-box. All the 2-stage I have managed to find are silly expensive. Thanks. -TL

    Stevens 345 firing pin

This 20ga side-by-side has one of the firing pins with broken tip. No luck finding replacement so far. But I did find firing pin on Numrich for model 335, which is the 12ga / 16ga model of the same design. Are their firing pins interchangeable? Thanks. -TL

    M4 forearm

Client brought in an M4 with stock polymer forearm and traditional front sight. He wanted to replace the forearm with something that has quad rails. It would be a plus if the barrel could be free floated. AR is not my thing, so I told him I would need to do some research. What would you...

    Glock trigger pull

Some said a 3.5lb connector with 8lb nypd trigger spring gives ideal trigger pull for defense and carry. Truth to that? I understand it is subjective. I just want to make sure I didn't have the numbers mixed up. Thanks. -TL

    Bore guide, is it necessary?

I bought and used one for cleaning my guns when I first started shooting rifles. At certain point I started tapering off its use. Now I hardly use it at all. I use nylon brush as solvent applicator. I let the chemicals do their job, instead of going nuts scrubbing the bore. I have healthy...

    S&W shield slide end plate

Where can I buy one? I don't need those fancy ones with engravings for $20 apiece. A plain cheap one will do. I am cutting it smaller for inspecting the striker-sear engagement. Thanks in advance. -TL

    Reload!!

Saw the HBO series "the pacifics". There the marines always yelled "reload! " when they ran out and needed to feed anothet clip into their 1903. In fact they might be doing that for all weapons, including the belt fed machine gun. I haven't seen or heard this before. Is it a real practice in...

    Bolt gun safety

Some bolt guns lock the action when safety is on. So one has to turn off the safety if he needs to eject a chambered round. Apparently it is designed to do so for a purpose, which I just can't figure out. What think you, and why? Thanks. -TL

Grinding the bottom of die or top of shell holder

My rifle has short chamber. Some said it is a good problem, as it won't have excessive headspace for a while. It is a problem nonetheless. I have lowered the sizing die way down, so much so that the top of the shell holder pushes on the bottom of the die when the ram is at its top dead center...

    Collimator, is it necessary?

I have scoped more than a few rifles. Never have used a collimator, nor a laser. Just plain bore sighting, followed by actual firing. I could do that even for auto loaders with blind receivers, with some more doings of course. I recently read a book on rifle gunsmithing. In it the author...

    Seating 7.62x45 with 7.62x39 die

Will it work? I got myself a Vz52, and am ready to hand load for it. Dies cost a small fortune. I reckon I will need a sizing die. But for bullet seating I hope I can reuse my 7.62x39 seating die. Doing so could save me a small sum. Thanks for your help in advance. -TL

    TT33 bore diameter

Got a radom tokarev and started hand loading for it. I wouldn't say the results have been successful. It doesn't group, and it leaded when I tried cast bullets. The bore size turned out to be 0.312" when I slugged it last night. Not wander it didn't shoot. I always thought it was smaller than...

    7.62x45 Czech handloading

Want to try my hands on this odd ball caliber. Your inputs are much appreciated. The dies are silly expensive. I want to try using dies I already have. Looks like I may be able to do it with a shortened 7.7 arisaka die, together with a 7.62x39 die. -TL

Adjust poi on an old colt revolver

After quite a bit of work, my colt new army DA in 41 LC finally shoots great. Now I need to do something about its poi. It is 4" to the left at 15 yards. The sights are not adjustable. The front sight is a simple fixed blade, while the rear is a groove on the top strap. Any suggestions? Thanks...
