    Calling Trapdoor Springfield owners

Good evening, I am trying to disassemble an original Trapdoor Springfield, Model 1884. I have removed the barrel and the trigger guard but I'm wondering if there is anything I should worry about in removing the side plate. Does it just come right off or are there springs that can pop out if I...

Which gun has dropped more bad guys. . .

I was having a debate the other night and my positition was that the Smith and Wesson Model 10/Colt Official Police has dropped more bad guys since the creation of the original design than the 1911. My opinion is that the revolver has been around since the late 1800's and has seen service in...

How to tell a mag is pre-ban?

I've been wondering how one determines if an AR15 magazine is preban? I've seen old 20 and 30rd Colt mags being sold as pre-ban in a gunshop. In another box was an assortment of "out of state only" mags that to me look identical to the pre-ban ones. How does one tell?

    AR15 Forearm question

I was wondering if it's possible to get a forearm for an AR15 that resembles the forearm of an early M16? If I purchase an AR I would like to get such a forearm since I highly doubt that I will be adding accessories and stuff. Anyone have any info on this?

    Do AR's hold value?

Hey guys, I've been thinking about a Stag AR15 model 4. My question is how well do they hold their value? If I play around with it for awhile and can't get used to the AR platform will I be able to turn around and sell it without losing a big chunk of money. A small hit is fine but I don't want...

    Jammed Model 10 HELP!

Here's the problem. I had been carrying my Smith & Wesson Model 10-5 and unholstered and unloaded it when I got home. I closed the cylinder and started wiping it down with a oily rag. However, when I went to open the cylinder I found out that it won't open. The gun seems to be functioning like...

    ASM Walker

I just bought an Armi San Marco Walker this afternoon. It seems to be in really good shape for the $175 I paid for it. My question is whether or not Pietta or Uberti parts will fit? Cylinder, springs etc. Also, are there conversion cylinders that will fit? I'm really not planning on converting...

    Which Great Plains?

Hey, I'm thinking of buying a Lyman Great Plains. I want something from the Fur Trapping era and have a few decisions to make. I like the looks of the TC Hawkens but want something historically accurate. What do you guys prefer, flint or percussion? Was flint more common back then? Also how...

    A questions and an observation

Hey guys, two things here. First, I just bought a A Rossi 92 carbine. It's in blued steel and is in flawless condition. The price was $299. I think I got a pretty good deal but I thought I'd check. The second thing might interest you guys. I am in the middle of watching the series, Centennial...

    How to CC a S&W Model 10

I just bought a 4'' Smith and Wesson Model 10-5. I'm pretty sure it has just become my favorite gun! I have an old S&W police holster that works perfect for carrying around the woods and camp, but I'd like to use it as my CCW if possible. Do any of you carry such a gun, and if so what's your...

    Explain The Ruger Six's

Can anyone explain and provide pics if possible of the differences between the Ruger Service Six, Security Six, and the Speed Six? I hear a lot of good stuff about these guns but don't really know what the differences are. Thanks!

    Flintlock question

How do you guys keep the power in the pan from going into the touch hole when your toting a flintlock? I know there's supposed to be some powder in there of course, but last time I was out hunting with it I opened the pan and most of the powder was gone. Is this normal?

    1858 Remington: Which Units?

Does anyone know of any specific units that were issued the 1858 New Army during the Civil War or Indian Wars? I know the Army Colt was in high use but I've never heard of any Remingtons being issued even though I'm sure the government bought a bunch. Were they mostly used by soldiers who...

    Bonanza clip of reloading

Hey guys, I'm not sure if this has been posted before. Since we all like to talk about the old western guns that held 30 rounds I thought you might like this. Cap and ball pistols to boot! I think Ben and Hoss are shooting 1858 New Army's, Little Joe a 1851 Navy, and Adam an 1860 Army...

    Shipping BP pistol to Ma???

Hi Guys, Can cap and ball pistols be shipped to Massachusetts? I have a feeling that its not allowed but on Cabelas and Dixie's website they list certain places they won't ship to, such as New Jersey. I used to see MA on the list but not anymore. Does anyone have any info?

What packaging to ship a firearm?

What kind of packaging would you guys use to ship a revolver back to the manufacturer? I'm pretty sure my FFL is going to want to make sure the gun is empty before I seal it up. Thanks

Changing the course of the Alamo

Here's an interesting thought. The defenders of the Alamo were armed mostly with flintlock rifles and muskets. What kind of an upgrade in weapons would have been necessary to change the course? Would it have been enough if each defended had a brace Walker Colts? A breechloading sharps...
