Trying to remember name of HK rifle....

Ok, I know this is a stupid question, but I can't remember the name of a particular HK rifle that I used to see a lot of in the late '90's or early '00's. It's the bulky gray all plastic rifle - I used to think they were uglier than sin. What's the name of this rifle?

So, I finally had a chance to give my Sig X-Five Competition (no adjustable trigger) a workout this weekend. This is

Etiquette Question: Shooting with folks you don't know....

So, you have been invited to "go shooting" with some folks you do business with, but have only met once, at a range you have never been to. You are an experienced shooter, been to many ranges, know and understand range etiquette and rules. You don't know what kind of shooting these folks do...

Ruger LC9 - Galloway Trigger info wanted...

Looks like Galloway is coming out with some neat stuff for the LC9. I am particularly interested in the trigger modification. I've read some reviews, watched some videos, etc. Has anyone here actually gone forward with the Galloway trigger mod? If so, does it really reduce takeup and trigger...

Guns - my appetite is on "full"....

For now. I am quite satisfied with the guns I have. At the current prices, there really isn't anything more that I want; not even ammo. I'm full - just going to enjoy what I have. Just wondering how many others feel this way?

Ammo Shortage v. Machine gun prices....

So, has anyone seen any significant drop in machine gun prices due to the extended ammo shortage?

    Question on short-barrel .357's

Does anyone know the approximate muzzle velocity of a 2" .357, such as the S&W Titanium 327 (8-shot revolver). In other words, due to such a short barrel, is there really going to be that much difference in muzzle velocity of a standard .357 and a standard .38 special round. It seems to me...

    Gun Show Update....

I attended a gun show (central Florida) this weekend. Here are my Observations: 1. Lots of AR15's for sale - both inside the show and several folks outside the show trying to sell theirs. AR15 parts were abundant also - I didn't see anything you couldn't get for an AR15. 2. More people...

Bullet-Proofing an AR15, good money vs. wasted money

I like things that are "over-engineered". So, I want to know if any of you have invested in parts, receivers, etc. to "bullet-proof" your AR. For example, heavier charging handles, buffer tubes, stocks, heavy barrels, anti-walk pin kits, chrome or NiB bolt carrier groups, cam pins, stainless...

    UZI Model A.....Open Bolt?

Were there ever any UZI Model A semi-auto open-bolt guns made/imported? I was under the impression that all semi-auto UZI's were closed bolt guns, but I've learned never to say never. I ran across this on Gunbroker: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=330839999 Now, this...

    AR Buffer Tube question....

Is there really any difference between a mil spec buffer tube made out of 6061 vs. 7075 aluminum? The 7075 tubes seem to sell for about twice what the 6061 tubes sell for. Heck, if there is really that much difference, maybe I should by a steel chromoly tube.

NRA Ballot - looking for write-in names

I'm looking for 4 more people to vote on as Directors for the NRA. I was able to pick 21 from the list of Nominees. However, for whatever reason(s) I don't care to vote for any of the other 8. So, I'm looking for serious nominees for a write-in. I would be glad to consider anyone on this...

STI rame - how do you fit a slide to it?

I presently have an STI 2011 .45 - complete and functions nicely. It has an aluminum frame. I am considering "swapping" out the frame (and parts) to replace the aluminum frame with a stainless one. It's a perfectly good gun, I understand, this is not necessary. I just want to know if it is...

    Advantages of 20" AR Barrel???

I have an older AR/M16 barrel laying around so I decided to use it in my AR build. However, I have some technical questions about this barrel. It's a 20" Colt "Government Profile", chrome bore 1/7 twist. I bought it new at a gun show in the early '90's - and although I mounted it on an A2...

    Review of STI LS40

I finally had the chance to shoot my STI LS40 this weekend. It is not a new gun, I purchased it used. First, let me say that the accuracy was amazing. I really think this could be a great gun. What wasn't so amazing were two things: 1) I experienced several failure to feeds. At first I...

AR Receivers - smooth vs. not-so-smooth texture???

I just purchased a set of SI Defense billet upper/lower receivers. As I'm assembling the lower receiver, I have an older Colt SP1 Carbine next to me so that I can remember how to fully assemble the receiver set. (putting it together was no problem). Aside from the receivers looking slightly...

    Modernizing before a ban....

I have sort of a strategic approach to "the next gun and/or magazine ban". In my opinion, it's not a question of "if", but "when". I looked at my semi-auto pistols and military style rifles. I noticed that many were manufactured in the '80's and early '90's, and that I had relatively few...

AR-bolts: what's the good, bad and ugly on different makes?

Are there any genuine differences between all the AR bolts out there? Which ones are good; not good - what to look for in a used bolt? (I'm not concerned with the Bolt Carrier, just the bolt.)

    Colt SP1 Carbine - any collector's value???

I'm thinking of building a modern AR (7075 Billet receivers, upgraded parts, maybe even a match grade trigger - don't know yet). I have a Colt Sp1 Carbine that I've never even shot - been a safe queen for as long as I can remember. It's the one with the pencil barrel, aluminum sliding stock...

Be careful - The Anti-Gun Crowd may be watching...

And posting. I think the regulars here need to be careful about letting their guard down. Remember, the gun-banners are organized and would not hesitate to come onto this forum to try to hone their debating skills against RKBA advocates and gun owners. Perhaps I'm paranoid, but I have seen...
