The hunting season will be here before you know it! I'd like to know what rifle you are going to use, the caliber it is in, and what big game animal(s) it is your going after this next season? I'll start:

Commercial Mauser
338/06
whitetail buck & doe

Upstate New York, we are in a shotgun, muzzleloader, handgun only zone for big game:

I'll be out there with my Thompson Center Encore Pistol
.308 winchester 15.5" stainless barrel with a muzzle tamer brake
bushnell 3200 series 2-6 power x 32 mm handgun scope
rubber grips, loaded with win supreme 150 ballistic tips
I am getting 2650 fps and it is wonderful on deer!!

Small game will be taken with either a trusty, used and slightly abused browning buckmark .22 lr pistol or a rem 870 shotgun.

Whitetail Deer. Any number of different rifle choices; I haven't decided yet. I'm gonna change after each deer to a different rifle. After bow season, I'll start out with my Traditions muzzleloader during ML season. Then in gun season, my new Rossi single shot .243 to break it in. Got about 6 or 7 others I'd like to try out. It's gonna depend on how many deer I get a chance at. The new wildlife regs this year are limiting everyone to only 2 bucks per year, from all seasons combined. But you can still get 5 or 6 does in addition, if you do it right, and hunt all the special doe seasons.

Not big game, but for fall turkeys, I'm looking forward to trying my new "ultimate fall turkey gun" out - a Spartan/Baikal SPR94 combo gun in 12 ga / .223 rem.

Then after deer & turkey seasons, I'm going after feral pigs with a Rem 1100 sportsman deer slug gun in 12 ga.

Mauser in either 30-06 or 8x57, or Finn Mosin Nagant depending on what I decide to carry that day. Hunting for me is more about spending time in the woods than really trying to get a deer.
