Am looking for a new toy for next year. Right now I've narrowed it to a Savage 116FHSS (accu-trigger and stock) stainless, long-action in .300 WM.

My current rifle (Ruger 77 Mark II all-weather) shoots clover-leaf groups at 100. Should this one do that also? (Ruger is one of those rare shooters that are not the norm).

Thanks.

Also looked at Sako A7 stainless, the new Winchester 70 and Thompson Center Icon. Not a Remington guy.

If the Ruger #1 was cheaper I'd look at that.

Savages have a rock solid reputation- wouldn't be a bit skeered to invest in any of their models.

Have you looked at the CZ550's?

You would not think so, but the Savage line is on the top of rifle selection. When I go to a show or a gunshop, I will not leave until I explore all the Savage rifles!!;)I also like the Weatherby, God it's great to be alive an employed by the united states Army!!!:)

My father purchased a Savage Weather Warrior 16FLSS.. It shoots .58 5 shot groups at 100 yards using Federal Fusion 62 gr. factory loads.. This is out of the box performance.. Whats not to love??
