Yipee! New 28-2!

My first handgun was a 6" S&W model 28. Now, years later, I picked up an excellent condition 4" Model 28-2. Gun is pinned, recessed and perfect! No marks on the blue other than a slight cylinder ring. Bore and cylinders are perfect as is the forcing cone. I traded for it from a guy that said he had not shot it in 10 years and basically only put around 700 rounds or so of assorted .38 target and light .357 target loads through it before putting away it when his target shooting club disbanded.
Has original grips in perfect shape but no box or papers.

Anyone help me out on the date of manufacture?
Serial number is N2548XX

What a gun!!!

I purchased my first revolver (2d handgun overall) 2 years ago at a gunshow. It was also a S&W 28-2 w/ 4" barrell. It was unturned in the box. My friend told me I would be a fool if I did not purchase it, so I did. Now, I'm glad I did. It's a great gun - very accurrate and has handled everything I've shot through it with no problems.
