WWI Rememberances

On a cold new years day, unknown to anyone but close friends and family, a old man aged 107 died.

His name was Erich Kaestner.

It is sad that his death did not come with any service apart from a private burial.

Its sad because Erich was the last remaining survivor to serve Germany in WWI.

It has been agreed that when the last remaining British service man dies, there will be a remembrance parade and a service held at Westminster. Germany on the other hand, wishes to not remember the past.

There is only 1 French, 1 Canadian, 2 Americans, 1 Australian, 1 Austrian, 1 Hungarian, 3 Italians,
1 from the ottoman empire, and 6 British soldiers left. Once they pass, the war will also pass from a living memory into a past era.

We will remember them!

I will remember the WWI veterans who i knew forever. WWI was a very hard fought war. One of my friends was gassed with mustard gas and phosgene. He had no finger nails or toe nails for over 20 years because of the mustard gas poisoning. Then they developed a medication that caused them to grow back. Jack died in 1985.
