Bloomberg article reads "Internet guns need no background check"

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-12-24/guns-for-sale-websites-show-ease-of-acquiring-firearms.html

I did send them an email explaining the true procedure, FFL sends copy of ffl to person or ffl gun was bought from, gun is sent to ffl you use in your state, form is filled out and call is made unless a permit to purchase or carry is in hand etc.

If they keep putting blatant lies out there, how can we ever get the non gun folks to belive or even to have compassion for our side of the story?

Write them folks print these articles, let them know that their lies are found.

Just my take on this.

If you are going to respond, at least address their point ... which is not traditional, interstate sales. What they are squawking about is Internet services that facilitate face-to-face sales, that CAN be consummated without benefit of FFL or background check.

Of course, in the case they chose to highlight, the seller KNEW he was selling to a prohibited person and went ahead anyway, so any discussion of background check would be moot in this case. The illegal buyer and the illegal seller have both been prosecuted, so the law works.

No matter how mandatory the 'gov makes background checks, they are never going to get the drug dealers in da 'hood to call NICS when exchanging guns for drugs (or drugs for guns).
