Why no holsters for 4.25" revolvers?

You need to look for Canadian holsters.

Before this latest gun control go round in Canada (not sure what the result of that will eventually be) Candian law did not allow 4" revolvers. 4.25" was allowed. US guns made with an eye to the Canadian market got 4.25" barrels, rather than the usual 4".

Obviously some of those guns are on the US market, but not enough that US holster makers have models to fit them as standard items.

Can't find a holster for my new king Cobra target, everything available is for a 4" barrel. :(
Simply Rugged makes holsters for the Colt King Cobra with a 4.25 inch barrel. Available models include the Cattleman belt holster and the Silver Dollar Pancake holster. Simply Rugged makes a nice holster, they are made to order but production times are generally reasonable.

I'd expect other holster makers to start supporting the 4.25 inch barrels, you might contact your favorite holster makers to see what their plans are.

I'd imagine that most holsters made for a 4" barrel work just fine with 4 1/4" barrels. Ruger has been making all of their GP100's with 4 1/4" barrels for years. Never heard of anyone having trouble finding a holster.

Seems to me that a leather holster or a nylon one would be able to be stretched, probably just by leaving the gun in it for a while.

One of the hard "plastic" ones, probably not. But 1/4" difference in barrel? I don't think it will make a practical difference. Especially after things wear in a bit.
