Wich barrel is most acurate hawkeye or american rifle?

Too early to say. In my very limited experience the Hawkeye's have shot more accurately, but I've read some reports of very good accuracy from the American's. With time, and as more Ruger Americans make it into circulation I think it will easier to make realistic comparisons.

Who knows at this point. I have a Ruger American, but would like a hawkeye more!

The one American I worked with outshot every other Ruger centerfire rifle, new or old, that I've ever fired.
And it outshot a very expensive FBI sniper rifle package costing a helluva lot more.

I have one Hawkeye and no American, so I can't offer a comparison. I can tell you that I really do like the Hawkeye (Stainless in 223).
