What happened to Merwin and Hulbert?

Anyone know what happened to this company?, they were taking orders for a replica of the merwin and hulbert revolvers, but seem to have dissapeared and been formed into a "new" company with the same name.

I never ordered a gun from them, but was really hoping they would be succesful in their indeavor of making this style of revolver. The "old" company had a forum were people could ask questions, but it seems to have dissapeared. There was some pretty fed up posts on the "old" companies forum, and now that forum is gone as well.

Anyone know what the deal is? Its pretty hard to find any new info about this outfit anymore.

It appears that the new Merwin, Hulbert & Company is now owned by the Sharps Rifle Company . I think this link will work, I just visited the web site:

http://www.merwinhulbertco.com/

From what I remember reading on the site, the new management plans to honor orders that were taken by the former company - but see what they have to say for themselves, particularly don't depend on my memory.

Thanks gunloony, im aware of the new website, it doesnt answer many questions though. They just have that ominous page claiming they will honour previous orders.

My own memory is equally foggy, but I could have sworn I read somewhere that the guys who were working on the M & H were alos owners of the "Sharps rifle company" way back when the "old" merwin and hulbert was taking orders.

Anyone with a pulse can form a new company name so it doesn't really put my suspicions at ease.

Michael Blank's consortium was trying to produce products under at least four different company/brand names, two of which were the Sharps Rifle Company to build (obviously) AR-15 rifles, and MH.

They couldn't produce anything more than CAD/CAM drawings & one or two toolroom parts for the MH.

Funding was inadequate, the group re-shuffled, and they are now making more promises.

Buyer beware in sending any more non-refundable deposits with MH orders.

Just a little update for those involved - Those who got refunds, it was not due to Mike Blank, or Kevin Tierney ( the self-titled turn-around specialist Blank went to) .

You owe your refunds to Wyoming native Jay Lesser who worked for each of the previous owners. That man made good on all of it, even tho Blank and Tierny were planning to wipe the slate clean and forget about the people who sent deposits. Read this article:

There have been a number of threads about the M&H and the "upfront, non-refundable, indefinite timeline for delivery" deposits.

I'd love to have an M&H, but the first time I read the brochure quite some years ago now (and commented on it in a thread here) there was no way I was going to chip out that much money.
