My 30-06 bolt rifle is a plain jane model. The stock is smooth and uncheckered. I have put up with this for many years but really want a more 'grippable' surface. At one time I saw some stick-on products that are black rubber for the pistol grip area and forestock. Not expensive and look like a great idea. I don't care about appearance, just practical matters. I have tried searches at Midway and Cabela's but don't know what they are called and I come up with no results.
Can someone point me in the right direction?

Or you can find it cheaper by looking for "skateboarding grip tape." Remember, skating is NOT a crime.

Alternatively you can get skateboard tape in almost any color to suit your taste, cut it to size and it will last a looooong time and give you a heck of a non-skid grip.
