DOES IT LOOK LIKE A PRIMER IS IN

THE TOP OF THE BULLET? IF SO THEY COULD BE EXPLODERS(SUSPOSED EXPLODING BULLETS - THEY OFTEN AS NOT WORKED AS ADVERTISED. A FAD SOME YEARS AGO.

Bullets or complete cartridge?

What's the headstamp if a complete cartridge?

They could be military tracers, but those were normally round-nose.

Sounds like some "OmniShock" rounds to me; these were wadcutters with a screw threaded into the front and the front halves of the bullet slit into 4 sections. The idea was, the steel screw would make them "semi-armor-piercing", and further, on impact, the screw would be driven back into the bullet, spreading the 4 leaves on the front out into little blades, something like an airplane propellor. I've got a couple of these rounds in my collection (with a cutaway I made), and I'll try to post a picture tomorrow.

Here's a shot of the rounds I THINK you've got.

Hah, I remember a guy (claimed to be the inventor of these) at the Pamona gun show (Los Angeles) many many years ago, had some nicely devastated blocks of ballistic gelly....
