Name your local bad men of the 19th Century. I'll start with two (I live near Round Rock, Texas, just north of Austin):

Sam Bass - Train, stagecoach, & bank robber - killed in a gunfight with Texas Rangers in Round Rock - 1878:

English-born Ben Thompson - Austin town sheriff, killed in Jack Harris’ Vaudeville Theatre and Saloon (San Antonio) in 1884, by friends of a gambler he had slain. King Fisher was with him and also was gunned down.

Frick, Morgan, Carnegie, Gould, etc. These guys wreaked more havoc in a week than an army of bandits. Dead men, women, and children littered their wake like chum behind the "Orca".

As far as Western banditti, I've always admired Charles Bolles. Black Bart, poet and highwayman, he never killed anyone and he was always polite.
