I have long been critical of the Texas CHL process:
Over burdensome
Over expensive
Excessively long process
Excessively long wait
This was highlighted even more after moving to another state and seeing a much simpler and faster process in Washington state.

Well now I just did a renewal for my Texas handgun license (now called LTC):
It was cheap, 25$ for veteran.
It was easy, basically verify info and pay.
It was a lot faster, less than two weeks from submission, to mailing.


I'm glad things are headed in the right direction in some places.

That's good to hear, glad it went well for you.
Renewed my LTC last year in MA, made sure it was applied for early. $100 later the state made sure it was late... At least they allow that if you applied in a reasonable time the chief LEO can give you a paper saying you put in for it.
