Volunteers from Safari Club International and tribal members released 99 of the prairie speedsters this month on the Yakama Indian Reservation after trucking them 700 miles from their capture site in Nevada.

Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife officials said they are supportive of the reintroduction. However, by not involving the state agency in the pronghorn capture and release, the Yakamas avoided dealing in advance with issues that get sticky for government agencies.

Hopefully these little guys will be the start of a new herd. Prong horn were hunted out in the early 1900s.

Hopefully, they'll reproduce like rabbits, or, even better, cockroaches.

I am fully supportive of by-passing any and every government agency at every and any opportunity.

Seems things actually get done that way.

thanks for the link.

I don't think they reproduce like rabbits... Oregon is a brutally tough draw to get a tag.

Seems things actually get done that way.

Most times it is not the agency's fault. Notice they are supportive of this. It is the fact politicians get to be involved....

Cool. I've never had the opportunity to see one in the wild. I hope the population expands enough so they spread out within the state. There's a ton of wide open sage brush planes and rolling hills on the east side that should be good habitat for them.
