After my last purchase cleaning its dirty bore I noticed some damage that wasn't visible upon the first inspection. It's not a huge deal since the barrels swap out but it was slightly irritating.
So now I am looking to increase my knowledge about bores/rifling and figured this would be a good place to start asking questions. I can look at the crown for damage and check to see if the bore looks good. But I want to know how bore conditions are rated. Also how to tell the different types of damage done, if it can be fixed/repaired, and what effect to expect that to have on the guns accuracy/performance.
If someone could point me in the direction of a good book or PDF file I would greatly appreciate it.
