In the catalog section of the American Handgunner 1999 Annual, there is a reference to a Walther P-"990", apparently priced at over $2000.
I'm guessing that it's some kind of enhanced version of their P-99, but the magazine didn't offer any further details or description.
Anyone know anything about this?

Karanas,

Goto :

to see a picture of one. The only difference I see is no de-cocker. Also, you can see the new Walther/S&W R99 revolver. I wonder what makes the 990 worth $2K. I know Walther quality but I never thought of them as like a Korth.

The retail price for the P990 is $749. The P99s that are over $2,000, $2,126 to be exact, are hand engraved. The P990 is a DAO, with what the Walther catalog describes as a "Constant Pull Trigger System." The pull weight is listed at 7.7 lbs. It is also described as having an "automatic trigger activated safety system." We'll have to wait to see whether this is innovation or just marketing.
