Varmint Scope

Hello,

I am looking for a varmint/target scope for my new rifle. I currently have a 3 x 9 on it, but want something with higher magnification. I would like to stay close to $300 and am looking for something with a low end of 4 or 5 and a high end between 14 and 16.

Any recommendations?

Thanks

Two thoughts,

Nikon Buckmaster 4.5-14X40 or Bushnell Elite 3200 5-15X40 are both nice scopes in that price range. The Buckmaster has side focus that is a really nice feature and not often found in a scope at that price point.
The Bushnell 3200 is one of the old Bausch and Lomb Elite 3000 designs with updated optics. No problem recommending either one.

As to the Super Sniper, I had a 16X. It was no where near the scope it's being built up to be by the vendor. You're buying a $300 Tasco and that's exactly what you get. One Man's Opinion

Take Care

Thank you for the recommendations. I was looking at both the Nikon and the Bushnell, so it looks like I was going in the right direction. How are Weaver scopes? They have models that are similar to the Nikon and Bushnell, but are about $30.00 or so cheaper. I think the objective is slightly larger as well.

The Super Sniper scopes look nice, but they are fixed power. I would like to have something that is variable, just for more flexibility.

Thanks again for the tips!

Did some shopping around and I think I am going to go with a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5 x 14. Seems hard to beat for the money. Has more eye relief than the Weaver and the x2 more magnification didn't seem to make a difference, in the store at least ;)
