Value of a AR15 SP1 serial 10XX (1964)

I have a Colt AR15 Sporter manufactured in 1964. Few rounds fired through it (father was only owner) - would estimate exterior finish at 90% +.

Any ideas of what the value of this rifle is? I would like to shoot it, but I wonder about the merits of keeping it as a safe queen and getting a clone in its place.

i sold mine #9xx for 1,000 over fifteen years ago,and i'm guessing that you could get up to three times that now,your best bet would be an auction that would draw the most value imho.good luck.

That's what I would do. I was handed down a gorgeous Luger that I won't shoot, even though the original owner did.

shoot it, don't abuse it, clean it and be damn proud of your fathers wisdom in buying it for the purpose of shooting it, i doubt you will wear it out, unles you plan on shooting a thousand rounds a day for a month !!
