Universal Carbine slide replacement link on GunBroker

That's an op handle, not a slide. They tend to break. Gunparts, who bought all remaining Universal parts eons ago, wants $98.25 for one, when they have any.
There are 2 types as well. And which one you need matters. Type 1 is for a round barrel. Type 2 for flat sided barrel.

I bought one as a backup for my Universal even tho the original slide showed no signs of cracking. It’s the one in my Universal now. But T.O’Heir, why wouldn’t I just buy these readily available slides made of the highest quality steel?
New slide to fit the late model Universal M1 Carbine. Made of 4130 steel heat treated to 35Rc. Polished then Black Oxide coated to match your gun.
Why bother with Gunparts?

These readily available slides are stamped just like the original Universal parts.
Gunparts is moot anyway as they don't have any. The point with mentioning them is the different types of op handle used by late model Universals.

T.O’Heir, that slide is made of steel plate, not sheet. And a very high quality steel. It’s not stamped.

I misplaced our discussion. I was thinking that lump of weld bead might make the thing too wide to fit right. Easy enough to measure your current op handle.
Stamped stuff is made of plate too. So were original Universal op handles.

Looks like a stout charge handle to me. And yes, this is a new slide from the GunBroker website. Works perfectly, no problems. And no, the other slide didn’t crack/break, I just replaced it because it’s a better part. Still have the original.
