Uberti or Pietta ?

Wanting a blued 1858, but which one to go with ?
I have read that Uberti is all around nicer, but worth the extra money ?
Is the Forged frame much stronger.
Wanting to add a conversion cylinder at some point but Uberti has a bore of
.440 and a Groove of .460 with cyliders of .450
This does not seem like a good combo for shooting .45 colt accurately or round ball accurately for that matter.

I've owned Uberti and Pietta revolvers. Both are accurate. The frames on both guns are strong enough to shoot BP or smokeless "cowboy" loads out of a conversion cylinder. The Uberti guns are finished nicer and are closer in size and feel to original guns. Piettas are cheaper and will do what they were made to do.

IMHO,
The Ubertis handle better. They are a bit lighter and in my hands point easier. The two I have are flawless (Millenial finish). The 3 different SS Piettas I have had all had problems with chamber/barrel alignment. However they were pre-quality upgrade guns. The last seferal years Pietta has supposedly upgraded it's quality of guns. The Piettas are still heavier built and not as sleek as the Ubertis but seem to be quite good guns of late.

I have handled both over the years, and I will take a Uberti every time. But I
dearly love my small frame Euroarms Remington .

If you walk the line at Friendship or Phoenix, the pre-dominant pistol in the "As Issue" class is Uberti, Remington New Army 1858, 8" barrel.

Sept. 2013, High Master 1st and 2nd scores, 277-9X and 274-7X
Sept 2013, Master, 1st and 2nd, scores, 2774X and 267 1X.

Drop one shot and ....

I should know you. Wife and I have been shooting pistol at Friendship since
1992. Missed a couple of years 1998, 1999, 2000 when our daughter was
Borned in 98. Then back again. Was there in June. We spend the whole week
Wife has won it by just a point or X more than once. We just got thru attending
a 3-day shoot here at our local club. Wife shot a 99 3X. And a 84 at 50. We had
a five shot match and she shot a 49X on it. She also won the rifle agg. Me,
I just watch and keep her guns going. She shot two 99's back to back at
Friendship in June. We don't go in Sept anymore due to the daughter being
in school.
