Trailside owners

I was just cleaning my Trailside and noticed the following behavior.
I've never had the gun discharge at the range doing this:

Safety on, cock gun. Pull trigger, nothing happens. Release safety, gun fires!

I was using the red plastic plug at the time, don't know if this would cause this.
It does hold the slide back a little more than a round would.

I was planning to send it to Sig this winter as the slide doesn't always want
to stay back after the last round, sound like an earlier trip is due.

Yeah, that doesn't sound too good. I still don't have that little rubbery thing so have not been able to simulate. Try it a few times at the range (safely of course) and see if it really a problem. Get ready for a wait though. I had to send my trailside back because it was failing to remain open on the last shot, and the slide had some unusual corrosion underneath. The gun was gone about 6 months and they ended up sending me a new one as I guess they couldn't repair the old one.

It stinks that you can't find these anymore in CA, I would love to get a 4 1/2 incher to go with the 6. Oh well.

Don't know but Larrys Guns sells them along with a lot of other Trailside stuff.

BTW. Took it to the range today and it wouldn't do it with a round in the
chamber. It must be the extra thickness of the plug that causes the problem.
Still makes me worry.

Just tried mine. I have a 4.5 field model. With the plug in, the trigger clicks in both fire and safety position but will not drop hammer at all.

I don't know if this a problem or not but mine is a "fun-gun" and I don't ever load it until I'm at the range and ready to shoot it. I've never even tested the safety. Finger off the trigger is my safety for these .22s. I do both of my .22 pistols that way. As long as they go bang when I pull the trigger I'm happy. You do what you feel is best but if it were mine I'd just go ahead and shoot it.

BTW, had any jamming problems with those plastic mags? I haven't but I've seen reports that other people have.

How do you like it overall?

I didn't like those black plastic grips so I made a set of walnut stocks for it. It fits my hand like a glove now.

NapAttack;
I'm with you on the safety, but my nine year old son shoots it a lot
and he's always putting the safety on when reloading, trying to fire
forgetting it's still on. This is the exact failure mode I discovered. Pull
the trigger with safety on and then the gun fires when you click the
safety off.

WRT the plastic mags. Make sure you have the newer style 'split lip'
mags. I've found it to be sensitive to ammo. Mine will jam a lot using
the cheap Walmart Federal stuff, but feeds the cheap Remington stuff
just great.

I've got the 4.5 Target so it came with the neat blue laminated grips
which I like. I'm willing to put up with some minor bugs as I just love
to shoot it. Trigger is wonderful. I've got a red dot that I put on it
sometimes (my son likes it that way) and it really will make a hole appear
where the dot is. I do have the problem with it not always locking open
on the last shot but I'll sent it in when it gets cold here.

Safety on mine works. Had the failure to lock back the slide after the last round after the 1st 7 mags. Doesn't do it w/o ammo unless you let it go quickly - same as shooting with ammo i guess. I do have the new style mags and will be sending it back soon.

Nice gun, but it does p**s me off to send back a new $500 .22
