In my .204 Ruger Howa 1500, shooting 40 gr. V-maxs I noticed these things today.

The good: W748 at 27.5 gr. (28.3 is isted as max) produced a 3 shot (only had 3 made up!) group of 1/2" (approx 3640 fps-next time will use a chrono). This would be great on coyotes but what about praries dogs?

The bad: BLC2 at 29.0 & 29.5 gr. (30 is listed as max) produced puctured primers. At 28.0 & 28.5 all primers are fine groups around 1.0 to 1.25.

Anybody else have any success with W748 in the .204? I was thinking of maybe making some loads at 27.6, .7 maybe up to 28.0

What kind of primers are you using? I use BL-C(2) extensively in the .204 and have yet to pierce or crater a primer using CCI BR-4 and 450 primers, but I've heard of your problem with standard primers when loaded close to it's potential.
