Man she's clean. I think I can just fight it off by insisting to myself that her barrel is shot out or bent in some way.

i doubt the barrel is shot out since it is in 30-30. i bought one at a garage sale for 25 dollars a few years back in 22 hornet. the rifle had a dirt dobber nest in it. after clean up it shot really well, once i master the trigger, which is like a bear trap dipped in sand. i have always thought i would have someone work on the trigger, but you know how that goes. i have had it for about thirty five years so i will probablly keep it.
