is the stainless action "registered" as a handgun or rifle action ???

nice stuff... I don't buy much on line like that, but if you don't get them sold, let me know... ( I have a 10" Fireball barrel, so the carbine barrel is interesting ), as well as the Encore stuff ( I just haven't made that plunge yet )... good luck with your sale...

I cannot remember how the Contender was done. Seems to me that I bought it as a rifle frame but just cannot remember.

The 221 is a shooter, I love that cartridge and barrel. I just need to cull the heard so to speak.

I'll drop you a line with what doesn’t sell.

Thanks for the compliments.

I have a older TC pistol, how do I know if the rifle stocks will fit on it. I have lots of pistol barrels but want some short rifle barrels.

Anybody got any ideal what I should be looking for?

I cant find any model numbers, just the ser # 240XXX

I can give you most of the specifics... the rifle stock will fit, all Contender frames, ( rifle stock is legal on the frames registered as handguns, but not the other way around ) so long as it's not the G-2 style vrs the pre G-2 style (KRAIG... yours would be pre G style, as are these listed ) ... barrels can be a bit dicier to figure out... but for the most part 14-16 & some 21's all fit the same forearms, G-2 barrels will fit on pre "G" actions, but require G-2 fore ends... ( there is no physical difference between rifle & handgun registered frames, so the 10" barrels do fit on either action, but are technically not legal on rifle registered frames, even if it had a pistol grip on it, which can fit either frame as well ) bull barrels can change things, as can aftermarket suppliers... I'm sure his wood fits these barrels & actions though... that clear as mud ??? I can try to answer any specific questions, rather than muddying up the waters any more...

BTW... a clear difference between the pre G & G-2 actions is the G-2's are typically "slab sided" vrs the engraved sides of the pre "G"... also, if you let the hammer down on a pre "G", you must break the action open, to recock the gun ( the hammer won't stay back )... they fixed this on the G-2 model, so you can recock the gun...

kraigwy,

The Contender barrel will fit any "Original Contender" frame (which is what you have) or "G2 Contender" frame. The Contender stock set will ONLY fit the "Original Contender" frame and NOT the new G2 frame.

kraigwy, the only barrels labled Contender that would not work for your frame would be the old Alloy barrels. Although they can be modified if I recall.

The Encore barrel and stock set will fit only the Encore frame.

Thanks guys ,that explains it.

Now I know what to look for. What I want now is a rifle stock and a 16" barrel in 45 ACP (if they make them in 45 ACP).
