The "what if" game...

Just for fun, lets play the "what if" game... shall we?

What if... You just inherited $5000 from a semi-rich, somewhat reclusive aunt.

Her one stipulation is that all the money is spent within 36 hours of receipt and that the entire amount is spent on at least one but no more than two shotguns.

You can add money to the $5K, you can even tip the sales person to round out to $5K, but you have to spend every single dime of the inheritance on one or two shotguns.

This isn't about a type of shotgun, just what you'd want if a set amount of money was dedicated and you couldn't blow it on other stuff, like a house payment or dental work for the kids. :D

Please feel free to list the gun(s) and if you like, why you chose this/these gun(s).

Ready, set go!

Have fun with it!

Creeper, I will play but I kinda read the rules as I see fit...
Since a gun is worthless with out ammo...
One Mossberg 500 12 gauge and a Mossberg 930 autoloader. Total will be 700 give or take so I will spend $4,200 on the shell assortment and the change is a tip for the counterman for locating all that ammo!
So what did I win!

That would only make a small down payment............on a customer-specified Perazzi - stocked to me with perfect balance and decent wood ....and fixed chokes designed for sporting and FITASC.

But since I probably wouldn't have the balance, I'll take a nice AyA #2 or Arrietta SxS in that range for bird hunting.

Now if you added another zero, I would make it a matched pair of Perazzis with a little engraving

maybe like this:

I've had an understanding with an old shooting buddy for many years: If either of us hits the lottery, we're both going to Italy for new custom Perazzis. We got our existing P-guns locally (P-USA) and it's just not the same thing. But, as 1-oz mentioned, $5K isn't gonna do it.

Zippy - had a friend do that - went to Europe on a vacation....ventured to Italy and on down to the VT area. Got roughly fitted at Perazzi in the morning, went and had a nice leisurely lunch, came back after a few hours, got the stock tweaked to perfection, and by the time he got home, his gun was about to be shipped - a nice MX20/8 in 28 with 30 inch IM/IM - built for one purpose.....Argentina

A few matched pairs set up for various pursuits - pigeons/Helice....sporting/Fitasc.......Argentina.......red-legged partridge.........

too bad this $5,000 would about pay for the trip to Italy...........:D

I'd hop on gunbroker, look for a NIB Spas 12 and I'd pick up a Mossberg 590a1 Mariner and really nice Benelli pump in hunting configuration.

I'd have to go with a decked out Benelli M4, complete with the M1014 skeleton stock. Whatever is left would go to a very happy salesman.

$5,000 isn't going to get it done .....and I'll leave the Italian stuff to my friends Zippy and OneOunce ( the italian stuff doesn't look good in a "buffalo's" hands ...)...

maybe a downpayment on a Kolar or Krieghoff ( but I'll need to add another
$ 25K - $ 35K from somewhere )....

http://www.kolararms.com/skeetmaxskt.html has some nice guns...

or I could make due with this one for $ 60 K

--------------------------------------------
If I could change it to a handgun ... with $ 5K - I'd probably call Wilson Combat and order another 1911 - Protector model for $ 3K / maybe another Sig X-Five this time, one in 9mm for about $ 3K .......

No thanks on the Remington 90 T Dustin / I have a very nice Browning BT-100 with a fair amount of gold inlay piegon engravings ... called a Leo's special worth about $ 3,500 - $ 4K probably, that I don't shoot much now .....mine is number 110 of only 200 made. I bought it used for about $ 2,500 a few years ago.

Like OneOunce said, a Kolar is a little different. But here are some photos of my BT-100 Leo's Special ( the BT-100 is discontinued by Browning / it was replaced by the cheaper to produce BT-99 ).

But if we stick together - we could become a small mob ....( and maybe a few of these tactical guys will come away from the dark side ..)....

or at least get into both .....

I may buy a Benelli M-4 just because I can one of these days ...(but I won't hang a bunch of junk off of it / I'll leave it stock ...).

Yep - I'm still thinking if we can get some of the tacticool guys to come shoot 5-stand and sporting, we might get some converts!....(Gotta keep the hope alive - they don't know how much fun they're missing!)

A gun club out here - hired the local high school cheerleaders and girls drill team - to work as trappers, drive the drink cart around the sporting clays operation - and the girls made a few bucks for their teams / and attendance at the shoots were way up.

They even had a car wash concession / the kids would wash your truck while you were shooting for $ 7.50 or whatever ......

that would get those tactical guys to come out ......and loosen up their checkbooks.... nothing like cute young girls hanging around to make it better....

I wonder if I could get Francesca Fricassi to engrave a David McKay Brown gun?

Or her father Firmo if she's busy. :) He taught her.

This is her work.
