I'm wondering if anyone knows the effect Ed's Red (kerosene/acetone/mineral spirits/ATF) has on blueing?
Thx, wolfz

Is it called Ed's Red because he dead? This sounds like a dandy environmental carcinogen.
I guess we're all more concerned with our guns sometimes than our bods eh?

Well, it less toxic than Hoppes. K1 kerosene, ATF, mineral spirits, acetone... all the acetone will do is remove all the oil from the skin on your hands. You know, you're not supposed to drink it.

It will keep for a looooong time if sealed up properly to keep the V.O.C.'s from evaporating. I keep it in a PTFE ( I think)gas can and usually mix 1 gallon a year. I've modified it a little by splitting the ATF portion with Marvel Mystery Oil.
